As the current government-in-power, the Trudeau Liberals are now interfering with decisions of Health Canada.  After winning the Canadian General Election on October 19th, 2015, the science-denying Trudeau Liberal Government immediately imposed national, arbitrary, & harmful prohibitions against pest control products like iprodione, chlorothalonil, & carbaryl.

In addition, neonicotinoid insecticides are being prohibited under the pretext of somehow protecting pollinators.  Really ?!?!  Will this really protect pollinators ?!?!  Is this just simply politicized prohibition ?!?!  Is this a failure of science-based evidence used to assess pest control products ?!?!  Why does Health Canada allow neonicotinoid insecticides for use in the agriculture industry, & yet, will nationally prohibit all turf uses ?!?!

The Trudeau Liberal Government’s arbitrary & harmful prohibitions will inevitably lead to the national annihilation of businesses operating in agriculture, golf, & lawn care industries  ―  these businesses rely on the use of safe, effective, & conventional pest control products.

There is no neonic crisis.  There is no proof that neonicotinoid insecticides harm honeybee colonies, when they are used properly.  Scientists, under the direction of the famed Dr Keith Ross Solomon, at the University of Guelph, have scientifically reported that there are no studies that show that neonicotinoids have harmed honeybee colonies.  Scientists found that while these insecticides can harm individual honeybees, there is no evidence linking them to the losses of a few bee-keepers in recent years.  In other words, when correctly-used, neonicotinoid insecticides do not adversely affect honeybee colonies.  The use of neonicotinoids with good agricultural practices does not present a risk to honeybees at the level of the colony.  Consequently, neonicotinoids are not a major concern for honeybees.

Bees are not being lost because of neonicotinoid insecticide use.  In fact, they are actually growing & thriving.  Why are a few bee-keepers losing their bees ?!?!  The most likely cause of losses are the bee-keepers themselves.  Incompetent bee-keepers are killing their own hives.  Observers have concluded that many bee-keepers have no idea what they are doing, & are simply not skilled to raise bees.  Bee-keepers are killing their own bees over & over again. Everywhere else, bees are growing & thriving.  There is no bee-pocalypse because of neonicotinoids.  There are no plummeting of bee numbers.  However, some bee-keepers are losing their bees over & over again simply because they are incompetent.

However, a major study of the province of British Columbia’s ( BC’s ) anti-pesticide by-laws has concluded that municipal prohibitions are dismal failures.  This is because municipal officials are now circumventing their own harmful-prohibitions by taking advantage of exception statuses that they have conveniently inserted in their by-laws.  Municipal prohibitions have provided inconsistent & unfair exception statuses for invasive weeds & destructive insects  —  mostly for city-owned properties but not for lawn care businesses.  Consequently, municipal prohibitions have annihilated legitimate & tax-paying businesses that operate in the professional lawn care industry.  These businesses cannot afford the hardship & the cost of this #@!!% prohibition nonsense.  Once any harmful-prohibition is adopted, local businesses will disappear into oblivion within 2 or 3 years, & vast numbers of workers will become unemployed.

Additionally, for British Columbia’s residents with pest problems on their home properties, they may be shжt-outta-luck relying on any exception.  Without no-risk conventional pest control products, properties have become pest-infested & dangerous garbage dumps because it is impossible to control invasive weeds & destructive insects by using phony, inferior, & ineffective green alternative pesticides.  Organic pesticide-free maintenance has been a dismal failure.  Municipal prohibitions have led to catastrophic ecological pest carnage for tens of thousands of destroyed & ravaged properties every single year.

Do Canadian Cancer Society’s fresh daffodils symbolize hope, strength, & courage in the fight against cancer ?!?!  Absolutely not.  Historically, the money collected from the sale of daffodils has been used on stunningly expensive & subversive conspiracy campaigns.  For years, these pesticide-hating campaigns have interfered with public policy by coercing government officials to impose prohibition against pest control products needed to protect the urban landscape.  CCS has squandered over 5-million-dollars on these illegal campaigns that violate taxation laws.  CCS’s hired-guns have even enriched themselves with vast rewards with well over 1.5-million-dollars.

Canadian Cancer Society has terrжrized decent, honest, hard-working, & tax-paying people in the professional lawn care industry.  CCS’s campaigns have extensively damaged the professional lawn care industry, leading to the destruction & bankruptcies of hundreds of businesses, & the unemployment of thousands of professional employees.  CCS’s illegal interferences have also inflicted apocalypse against owners, employees, & families dependent on safe & effective pest control products.  They have faced terrжr, despair, & destitution because of CCS’s hired-guns.

Canadian Cancer Society has never provided any credible information to Health Canada that justify its campaigns.  This is because no one at CCS has any recognized expertise, training, or background in matters concerning pest control products.  Furthermore, CCS’s own web-sites state, repeatedly, that scientific research does not provide a conclusive link between pest control products & cancer.

If we follow the pesticide-hating logic of Canadian Cancer Society, then we must warn the public that its fresh daffodils place the public at risk.  As we all know, CCS’s fresh daffodils are soaked in potentially dangerous chemicals.  They are pesticide-treated & formaldehyde-drenched.  Are CCS’s pesticide-treated daffodils unfit for sale ?!?!  Yes.  Why are they used for fund-raising when they have the potential to cause cancer ?!?!  The use of CCS fresh daffodils is wrong.

And yet, there are thousands of known cancer-deaths per year from known cancer-causing life-styles such as   ―   •   ALCOHOL consumption   •   physical inactivity   •   excess body weight   •   CIGARETTES & second-hand smoke   •   solar ultra-violet ( UV ) radiation ( i.e. over-exposure to the sun )   •   unhealthy diet   •   NOT pest control products.  Pesticides causing cancer is a MYTH.

The real big risk factors that are responsible for 12 per cent of global cancer incidence include   ―   •   CIGARETTES ( i.e. tobacco )   •   obesity   •   various pathogens   •   NOT pest control products.  Pesticides causing cancer is a MYTH.

Moreover, the key exposures that contribute the most to the burden of occupational cancer in Canada do not include pest control products, according to Canadian Centre For Occupational Health & Safety ( CCOHS ) & Occupational Cancer Research Centre ( OCRC ).  Pesticides are nowhere near a leading cause of cancer-death.

A pesticide will only be approved if it will not pose a cancer risk.  Common cancers are most likely not caused by pesticides.  Regulatory agencies world-wide, such as US EPA & Health Canada, will only grant a registration for legal pesticide use if it does not pose a cancer risk to humans.  There is neither strong nor consistent data supportive of a positive association between occupational pesticide exposure & the five most common types of cancer  ―  breast, colorectal, lung, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, & prostate cancer.  Animal toxicology study findings have not corresponded to the few epidemiology studies that suggested a link between pesticides & cancer.

There are no pest control products that are known or probable carcinogens.  These products have been evaluated for their carcinogenic potential.  There is not one known cancer death from the proper use of pest control products needed to protect the urban landscape.  Pest control products are scientifically-safe, & will not cause harm to human health & the environment.

If Canadian Cancer Society were to devote the same level of energy to the primary causes of cancer, that being life-style, rather than pesticide-hating conspiracy campaigns, less people would die.  The public must stop giving money to CCS, & its charity tax-exempt status must be revoked.  There are at least twenty reasons that justify a revocation of CCS’s charity tax-exempt status.  Everybody must stop making donations to Canadian Cancer Society.  CCS-terrжr must be stopped.

Cancer is inevitable, but not because of pesticides.  Given that cancer is the number 2 leading cause of death, there is a good chance that you are going to die of cancer no matter what you do.  By contrast, pest control products, like Roundup, are nowhere near a leading cause of cancer-harm, & there is NO chance that they will make you die of cancer.  So, chill-out & have a drink, & forget about prohibiting pest control products.

In the 9|11 era of environmental-terrжrism, no one needs to worry about children, & even pets, playing on pesticide-treated grass.  This is because all pest control products are federally-approved, scientifically-safe, practically-non-toxic, & will cause no harm, even to children, & even to pets.  They represent no-actual-risk-of-harm. 

~

It is a myth that children, & pets, are somehow at greater risk from exposure than adults because they play closer to the ground & their bodies are still developing.  Science-denying extremists despicably exploit children & pets as weapons of coercion for their pesticide-hating doctrine. 

~

Only government regulatory agencies, like Health Canada, have the essential expertise concerning pest control products.  The safety assessments of pest control products by government regulatory agencies DO take children & pets into consideration.  These assessments do consider children’s & pet’s physiology, behaviours, & habits while playing on treated grass. 

~

Re-entry intervals are necessary to ensure that any pest control product residues on the treated turfgrass surfaces do not pose an unacceptable risk to human health.  These intervals reflect the amount of time required for pest control product levels to dissipate to a level that is well below any point of concern.  They are determined by Health Canada in order to protect children & adults against potential harm from pest control products applied to turfgrasses.

Typically, for all pest control products needed for professional lawn care maintenance, the Health-Canada-approved labels state « KEEP PEOPLE OFF TREATED AREA UNTIL FOLIAGE IS DRY ».  The same can be said for the vast majority of pest control products needed to protect golf courses.  When the vast majority of these products are properly used, label directions stipulate that in order to minimize any unnecessary exposure, it is good practice to stay off treated turfgrass surfaces until residues are dry.

A few minutes after the application has dried, pest control products will continue to cause no harm to anyone.  There is no problem with children or pets playing on a dried treated surface after a pest control application.  After a product dries on the leaf, it is difficult, if not impossible, to dislodge residues off the leaf surface.  In essence, wait-until-dry products may be considered as requiring no interval.  Additionally, a very small number of products used on golf courses have a requirement for a re-entry interval of 12 hours, but there are none for 24 or 48 hours.

According to government regulatory agencies, there are no unacceptable risks for children & pets.  Pest control products are applied at very low doses, & do not present a concern to children  …  & even pets.

Because of the failures of their leaders, superintendents are in lots of deep #@!!% trouble.  Their betrayal & their incompetence must stop  …  now !  The end is near for golf superintendents & their facilities.  Trade association leaders must be pressured to immediately address several critical issues.  Any leader who does not bother to address these critical issues does not deserve a career, or a business, or any success in the golf industry.

Here are some examples of attack-statements regarding golf courses & pest control products.  The use of the statement « CANCER-CAUSING » represents an aggressive attack against golf superintendents & their facilities.  Pesticides causing cancer is a myth.  Additionally, trade association doctrines represent attacks against golf superintendents & their facilities.  « GO BROWN » anti-cosmetic golf maintenance & « FERTILIZER NUTRIENT REDUCTION » are statements that are loathsome attacks by trade associations & their doctrines against golf superintendents & their facilities.  Golf facilities are also attacked with the statement « THE AUGUSTA NATIONAL SYNDROME », which is perceived to fuel an environmentally destructive loop, in which golf courses are held to unreasonably high standards requiring more pesticides & more fertilizers.  It is clear that golf superintendents can simply attempt to aspire towards the standards for perfection known as « THE AUGUSTA EFFECT ».  Golf superintendents must defend their industry from hundreds & hundreds of lethal attacks, whatever the cost may be.

Canada’s national-prohibitions against pest control products came as no surprise since the decisions by the Liberal-controlled Health Canada agency had been mostly implemented within mere months after Liberal Party won in the Canadian General Election on October 19th, 2015.  Once elected to power, the Trudeau Liberal Government quickly conspired to propose & / or enact national-prohibitions against more of the turf industry’s desperately-needed products.  The golf industry needs a lobby group that will ensure that Health Canada has considered all of the information in a weight-of-the-evidence approach whenever it imposes national-prohibitions against its products.

The US-based Scientific Certification Systems has a « PESTICIDE-RESIDUE-FREE » certification program that either organic or non-organic growers can participate in.  The idea is that no matter how you grow your plants, as long as they are free of residues when going market, they will be more appealing to people who, say, are concerned about so-called links between pesticide exposure & Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or other FEAR-MONGERING.  The risk, of course, with all of these certifications, is that it will be too much for the harried shopper to wade through.  What do these labels really mean ?!?!  What do they really guarantee ?!?!

The province of Ontario has the most regressive & the most harmful prohibition against so-called « COSMETIC USES OF PESTICIDES ».  Because of Ontario’s pesticide-hating doctrine, the province is living in environmental infamy.  On April 22nd, 2009, the government of Ontario arbitrarily imposed the regressive, destructive, inconsistent, & unfair prohibition against conventional pest control products needed by home-owners & by the modern professional lawn care industry.  Ontario’s « COSMETIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT » has been the most radical, the most reckless, & the most arbitrary prohibition ever.  Consequently, hundreds & hundreds of businesses have been destroyed within 2 or 3 years, & thousands & thousands of professional workers inevitably have been harmed with unemployment.

Additionally, Ontario’s prohibition has allowed thousands & thousands of inconsistent & unfair exception statuses, including agriculture, cemeteries, golf facilities, sports fields, & more.  These exceptions have been conveniently incorporated into the prohibition regulations in order to allow government officials to circumvent their own prohibitions, to arbitrarily suit the needs of elected officials, & to falsely maintain alignment of these officials with their political precepts & doctrines.  In fact, in order to be consistent & fair, there should be no #@!!% exception statuses whatsoever.  Of course, prohibition was implemented despite the fact that the restricted products were / are Health-Canada-approved, federally-legal, scientifically-safe, practically-non-toxic, & will cause no harm.  Science-denying activists & officials know nothing about pesticides.

In the 9|11 era of environmental-terrжrism, pesticide-hating doctrine has been arbitrarily imposed in provincial jurisdictions against pest control products needed to protect the urban landscape.  ENVIRO-TERRЖR WILL NEVER END !

However, the province of Quebec has officially acknowledged that 2,4-D is safe & does not pose an unacceptable risk to human health & the environment.  Eventually, Quebec’s prohibition was morally invalidated by a lawsuit known as the NAFTA Challenge.  Dow AgroSciences, the manufacturer of the herbicide 2,4-D, settled the NAFTA Challenge case with the Canadian government.  Consequently, Quebec’s prohibition became morally invalidated by this acknowledgement.

Historically, Quebec had imposed the first-ever provincial ( i.e. state ) prohibition against no-risk conventional pest control products needed to protect the urban landscape, such as 2,4-D.  For decades, all provincial political parties in Quebec had supported prohibition, as well as many civil service agencies.  Unfortunately, Quebec has imposed its harmful-prohibition exclusively against professional lawn care businesses & residential home-owners.  Golf course & agricultural facilities were provided exception statuses despite using the very same ingredients that were arbitrarily prohibited from business & residential use.  Surprisingly, Quebec was never truly pesticide-free since several conventional products have continued to be allowed.  Organic pesticide-free maintenance with these exceptions has been a dismal failure.

David Suzuki’s Quebec alliance of enviro-extremists was formed with seven anti-pesticide organizations to challenge the threat against the Quebec prohibition of pest control products.  This alliance of enviro-extremists was composed of   ―   •   Canadian Environmental Law Association   •   David Suzuki Foundation   •   Ecojustice Canada   •   Equiterre ( Suzuki’s ambassador in the province of Quebec )   •   New Democratic Party of Canada ( at the time, the federal opposition party, & also the political-shield for the environmental-extremist-movement  )   •   Sierra Club of Canada   •   University of Ottawa-Ecojustice Environmental Law Clinic.  The alliance called upon the government of Canada to vigorously defend Quebec’s prohibition against the use of pest control products in the urban landscape.  The alliance also wanted federal government to acknowledge that it makes sense to eliminate unnecessary chemical exposure to allegedly protect human health & the environment.  Finally, the agreement reached between Dow AgroSciences & the government of Canada concluded that   ―   •   pest control products like 2,4-D are scientifically-safe   •   prohibitions are irrefutably invalidated.
