Chemicals NOT PAR For The Course
Overview from an Independent Perspective
GOLF FACILITIES use SIX PER CENT OF ALL PESTICIDES in Manitoba.
The Golf Industry currently enjoys the benefits from an EXCEPTION STATUS against Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION despite the fact that it uses the VERY SAME INGREDIENTS used by Home-Owners and Professional Lawn Care businesses.
The Golf Industry must plan for the INEVITABLE AND TOTAL REVOCATION of its EXCEPTION STATUS in the Province of Manitoba.
The Golf Industry DESERVES a PESTICIDE BAN as much as the Professional Lawn Care Industry.
In a DESPICABLE attempt to DISTRACT activists, government officials, and the public, several Golf Industry Trade Associations have SUPPORTED PESTICIDE BANS since 2008.
Even MORE DESPICABLE, some GOLF INDUSTRY TRADE ASSOCIATIONS, like Golf Canada, have FINANCIALLY SUPPORTED Anti-Pesticide Organizations in their CONSPIRACIES against the Professional Lawn Care Industry.
In Ontario, IDIOTIC Golf Industry Trade Associations like Canadian Golf Superintendents Association VALIDATED the Anti-Pesticide Agenda, leading to the ANNIHILATION of the Professional Lawn Care Industry !
These and other IDIOTIC Trade Associations TORPEDOED the Professional Lawn Care Industry.
FAILURE OF WESTERN CANADA TURFGRASS ASSOCIATION ( Web-Page )
In jurisdictions outside of Manitoba, PESTICIDE BANS led to CATASTROPHIC CARNAGE for Professional Lawn Care businesses, in the form of HORRIFIC FINES and BUSINESS FAILURES.

Manitoba Government Officials may consider IMPOSING PROHIBITION on ALL those industries that use pest control products, INCLUDING THE GOLF INDUSTRY.
Manitoba Government Officials may not only conclude that pest control products are NOT SAFE for use on HOME LAWNS, they may also conclude that the very same products are UNSAFE FOR USE ON GOLF FACILITIES.
2011 Report on Pesticides Used
on Manitoba Golf Courses
GOLF FACILITIES USE SIX PER CENT OF ALL PESTICIDES IN MANITOBA.
Some observers have commented that if GOLF FACILITIES account for 6 PER CENT OF THE PEST CONTROL PRODUCTS USE IN MANITOBA and feel they deserve an EXCEPTION STATUS, it should be pointed out that a RESIDENTIAL HOME LAWN only accounts for 0.00000001 PER CENT, and therefore is far MORE DESERVING of an EXCEPTION STATUS than they are.
Unlike municipalities and weed-control districts that spray for dandelions and other more noxious weeds, GOLF FACILITIES USE MOSTLY FUNGICIDES such as Instrata or Banner Maxx to control Snow Mold Diseases.
Manitoba’s GOLF FACILITIES are often criticized for their heavy-handed use of pest control products.
In 2011, they accounted for roughly SIX PER CENT of all pest control products used province-wide by permit-holders.
The 65 GOLF FACILITIES that filed year-end reports sprayed about 11,200 litres of chemicals in 2011.
The top liquid pesticides used on Manitoba GOLF COURSES in 2011 ―
● Instrata, a fungicide used against Snow Mold Diseases ― 4,820 litres.
● Par III, a weed control product ― 1,830 litres.
● Daconil, a fungicide for turf diseases ― 780 litres ( 300 kg of Daconil in solid form was also used ).
● Premium 3-Way, a weed control product ― 770 litres.
● Banner Maxx, a fungicide for turf diseases ―500 litres.
The Manitoba Free Press Newspaper analyzed the reports to create a searchable database that allows Manitobans to see what gets sprayed on public land.
Manitoba Free Press in a newspaper that functions as the MEDIA SHIELD for Anti-Pesticide Organizations like Canadian Cancer Society.
For example, the Rural Municipality of Headingley sprayed 275 litres of 2,4-D over 124 hectares of land but used six litres of Tordon 22K to spot spray.
Almost 1,100 entries such as this exist, covering nearly every weed-control district, school division, GOLF COURSE, utility and rail company, as well as the city and province.
In some cases, you will be able to see which pesticide was used around your child’s school.
It’s only for one year ― 2011.
But it’s the first time anyone has logged what gets sprayed on public land in the province.
Province-wide, permit-holders such as weed-control districts, the provincial Highways Department, school divisions and companies such as Tolko and CN Rail used about 166,000 litres of weed and fungus killer.
That’s according to an analysis done by the Winnipeg Free Press Newspaper in advance of a LOOMING BAN on some kinds of cosmetic pesticides.
Unlike municipalities and weed-control districts that spray for dandelions and other, more noxious weeds, GOLF FACILITIES use mostly fungicides such as Instrata or Banner Maxx to kill Snow Mold.
Snow Mold a patchy, cobweb-like fungus that can kill as much as 80 per cent of a golf course's grass, effectively rendering it unusable.
The SAINT CHARLES COUNTRY CLUB, Winnipeg’s venerable 27-hole course, used the MOST chemicals at 1,160 litres.
The SAINT BONIFACE GOLF CLUB, also an 18-hole course, ran a distant second.
MELITA GOLF COURSE, a nine-hole municipal course, was the most stingy with weed and fungus control products, using only 13 litres of chemicals.
The BEAUSEJOUR GOLF COURSE sprayed almost as little.
Presumably, those Golf Facilities that avoid or cannot afford pest control create GARBAGE DUMPS and LOW-END PLAYING CONDITIONS THAT ARE UNACCEPTABLE.
Thin and yellow playing surfaces that are OVER-RUN WITH WEEDS and INFESTED WITH INSECTS AND DISEASE will DRIVE GOLFERS OUT and DESTROY the Golf Industry.
The Manitoba government is expected to release a discussion paper to spark public input on new rules for pest control products.
Legislation is expected this fall or next year, and WILL LIKELY FOCUS ON HOME-OWNERS.
Manitoba is among the last provinces to crack down on cosmetic pesticides.
Advocates and lobby groups are already lining up on both sides of the issue.
In most provinces with cosmetic pesticide bans, GOLF FACILITIES ARE EXEMPT, and Manitoba’s GOLF COURSE OWNERS have already expressed their OPPOSITION TO A BAN, even one that GOES EASY ON GOLF FACILITIES.
Darren Dundas, owner and manager of the La Verendrye Golf Course and a Board Member from Manitoba Golf Superintendents Association, said Golf Facilities get unfairly criticized for heavy chemical use.
Dundas said every course has trained, licensed pesticide experts who spray very carefully and consider themselves stewards of the environment.
According to Dundas ―
We try to spray as little as possible, partly because of the cost of it. We only spray what we have to and when we have to.
Still, there are some Golf Facilities that have managed to dramatically shrink the amount of weed and fungus killer they use.
On the vanguard is the Clear Lake Golf Course in Riding Mountain National Park, which used no weed control products such as Par III or Premium 3-Way at all last year.
Again, those Golf Facilities that avoid or cannot afford weed control create WEED-INFESTED GARBAGE DUMPS and LOW-END PLAYING CONDITIONS THAT ARE UNACCEPTABLE.
Playing surfaces that are OVER-RUN WITH WEEDS will DRIVE GOLFERS OUT and DESTROY the Golf Industry.
The Golf Industry MUST DENOUNCE the so-called GREEN ALTERNATIVES to conventional pest control products as BOGUS. Green Alternatives like hydrogen peroxide and compost tea DO NOT WORK. There will likely be NO viable, efficacious, or economical Green Alternatives within our collective lifetime.

The Golf Industry is on a Collision Course with the LOOMING SHIPWRECK of Anti-Pesticide and even Anti-Fertilizer TERRORISM !
The Golf Industry is on a Collision
Course with the LOOMING SHIPWRECK,
and there is NO LONGER A HOPEFUL
FUTURE for anyone !
We Are Now Living in the 9|11 Era of Environmental-Terror for the Green Space Industry ― which includes the IMMINENT DEMISE of the Golf Industry.
The PROHIBITION conspiracy against pest control products has now attained NATIONAL proportions, and the provinces are falling like dominoes.
The Professional Lawn Care Industry is systematically being ANNIHILATED by Environmental Terrorists across Canada.
Because of Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION, the Ontario Professional Lawn Care Industry LOST OVER 500,000,000 DOLLARS, with UP TO 12,500 UNEMPLOYED ― and the Golf Industry can expect the same CARNAGE.
CARNAGE CAUSED BY CATASTROPHIC ANTI-PESTICIDE PROHIBITION ( Web-Page )
First municipal, then provincial, and finally national in scope, their first destructive attack is ANNIHILATING LAW-ABIDING and TAX-PAYING Professional Lawn Care companies.
The Anti-Pesticide Terrorists have tasted victory by OBLITERATING the Professional Lawn Care Industry across Canada, and the HATED GOLF INDUSTRY is NEXT.
This time, the Golf Industry is totally alone, and devoid of any allies.
Anti-Pesticide Terrorists have VIRTUALLY LIMITLESS FUNDS to wreak their havoc, and they understand full well that THERE IS NO UNITY within the Green Space Industry ― with the trade associations operated by IDIOTIC elected officials and staff.
The Golf Industry, because of the attitude of its trade association leaders ― an attitude of denial, protectionism, and mock-dismay at any form of criticism ― ignored the supreme historic opportunity to join forces with the Professional Lawn Care Industry, and LITIGATE against the forces of Anti-Pesticide Terrorist-Evil.
A failure to do so was LETHAL, and future generations will someday ask the question ― WHY DID YOU NOT ACT ?
For the first time in all of our collective history, it can honestly be said that there is NO LONGER A HOPEFUL FUTURE for anyone in the industry, young or old.

The Golf Industry
must immediately
address the following
CRITICAL ISSUES …
TO AVOID THE IMPENDING BLACK ANTI-PESTICIDE DEATH, the Golf Industry Must Immediately Address Several CRITICAL ISSUES, and STOP VALIDATING the Anti-Pesticide agenda.
Regardless of its Exception Status in many jurisdictions, the Golf Industry faces some huge challenges because of its high degree of vulnerability concerning several public affairs issues.
In order to successfully deter the malicious efforts of all Lunatic Golf-Hating Anti-Pesticide Terrorists, the Golf Industry must immediately address the following CRITICAL ISSUES.
The Golf Industry Should Tell Anti-Pesticide Activists to Get OFF Our grASS and Roast In Hell.
1. The Golf Industry MUST STRONGLY ADOPT THE POSITION that conventional pest control products are SCIENTIFICALLY-SAFE and CAUSE NO HARM.
2. The Golf Industry MUST ALSO ADOPT THE POLICY that its use of ANY FERTILIZERS DOES NOT HARM THE ENVIRONMENT.
3. The Golf Industry MUST OPPOSE ALL FORMS OF PROHIBITION against pest control products. It must OPPOSE even PROHIBITION on PUBLIC PROPERTY since this is a FIRST STEP towards TOTAL PROHIBITION.
4. The Golf Industry must DEMAND that ALL PROHIBITIONS pertaining to the use of pest control product in the Urban Landscape BE RESCINDED in ALL PROVINCIAL, STATE, and MUNICIPAL JURISDICTIONS.
5. The Golf Industry must also OPPOSE ALL FORMS of PROHIBITION AGAINST FERTILIZERS.
6. The Golf Industry must TERMINATE ALL RELATIONSHIPS with all Anti-Pesticide Organizations that conspire to prohibit pest control products, like Canadian Cancer Society, World Wildlife Fund, and others. All related charitable tournaments that provide financial donations and support to these Anti-Pesticide Organizations must be SUSPENDED.
7. More specifically, the Golf Industry MUST DEMAND that Golf Canada ( a.k.a. RCGA ) TERMINATE ALL RELATIONSHIPS with all Anti-Pesticide Organizations that conspire to prohibit pest control products, like Canadian Cancer Society. The fund-raising program Golf Fore The Cure MUST BE TERMINATED. Golf Canada MUST CEASE SUPPLYING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to organizations that have publicly THREATENED, REPEATEDLY, the Golf Industry with Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION.
8. The Golf Industry MUST CEASE ATTEMPTING TO EDUCATE and TO CONVINCE Anti-Pesticide Government Officials and Activists. They are to be considered ENEMIES of the industry. These Anti-Pesticide TERRORISTS WILL NEVER reverse their attitudes AGAINST pest control products. NO ONE MUST NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS, either environmental or political.
9. The Golf Industry MUST CEASE focusing on the INEFFECTIVE practices of Integrated Pest Management ( IPM ) as the solution to its public affairs problems. Golf Industry trade associations ALLEGE that the best way to MINIMIZE INPUTS is through the use of Integrated Pest Management ( IPM ), despite the fact that, overall, IPM cultural practices DO NOT CONTROL PESTS of established turf and ornamentals.
10. The Golf Industry must plan for the INEVITABLE and TOTAL REVOCATION of its EXCEPTION STATUS in most jurisdictions across Canada. In fact, the BEGINNING OF THE END of the Golf Industry EXCEPTION STATUS on December 2nd, 2009, when a Prince Edward Island Government Official the issued the following WARNING ― « We’re allowing ( 2,4-D ) on golf courses because it's a major industry for PEI and we’re working towards getting off it. What we’re basically saying is you [ the Golf Industry ] better find a way to get off it over the next couple of years. » Ultimately, in two to four years, the Golf Industry will LOSE many or ALL of its valued and necessary pest control products.
11. The Golf Industry MUST ADOPT THE POLICY that the ONLY COURSE OF ACTION AGAINST PROHIBITION IS THROUGH LITIGATION.
12. When Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION is IMPOSED, the Golf Industry MUST LAUNCH LITIGATION against those Government Officials and Activists who CONSPIRED TO PROHIBIT PEST CONTROL PRODUCTS. These products are, in fact HEALTH-CANADA-APPROVED, FEDERALLY-LEGAL, PRACTICALLY-NON-TOXIC, and CAUSE NOT HARM.
13. When Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION is IMPOSED, Golf Facilities MUST SEEK DAMAGES since they will be NO LONGER able to reproduce the business results obtained prior to PROHIBITION, and the VALUE of their businesses will have been DESTROYED.
14. When Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION is IMPOSED on the Golf Industry, Golf Facilities MUST DEMAND COMPENSATION FROM GOVERNMENT since PROHIBITION will have created LOSS OF REVENUES, BUSINESS FAILURES, BANKRUPTCY, and UNEMPLOYMENT.
16. The Golf Industry must DIVULGE to the public ALL scientific information that ascertains that its chemicals are definitely « minimum-risk » or « reduced-risk ». The Golf Industry must create a fully transparent data-base for right-to-know concerning its chemicals. It must demonstrate that pest control products are HEALTH-CANADA-APPROVED, FEDERALLY-LEGAL, PRACTICALLY-NON-TOXIC, and CAUSE NOT HARM.
17. The Golf Industry MUST ALSO DENOUNCE CULTURAL PRACTICES as a so-called « legitimate alternative » to the use of pest control products. Cultural practices DO NOT WORK in controlling pests.
18. The Golf Industry must develop and publish GOLF MAINTENANCE PROTOCOLS and the PERFORMANCE STANDARDS expected by its playing customers. So far, the Golf Industry has been ridiculously inconsistent in defining « suitable playing surfaces ».
19. The Golf Industry MUST SCIENTIFICALLY DEFINE and PUBLICALLY DISCREDIT the mis-leading term « Organic Maintenance », and establish policies for EXPELLING Golf Facilities using this inaccurate and misleading term from its trade associations. These Golf Facilities are not WITH US … they are AGAINST US !
20. The Golf Industry’s Trade Associations must cease its wasteful « Wag The Dog » policies on irrelevant issues such as saving quintozene fungicide, which was ill-fated. Despite the many questions concerning the safety of quintozene, these Trade Associations had launched a petition in support of this ingredient. By defending a product associated with serious health, environmental, and turf phyto-toxicity issues, the Golf Industry weakened its credibility.
21. The Golf Industry MUST VIGOROUSLY EMBARK ON A MASSIVE PUBLIC RELATIONS CAMPAIGN to STOP the proposed scheme by Anti-Pesticide Activists and New Democratic Party of Canada ( NDP ) threatening a NATIONAL PROHIBITION against pest control products. NDP functions as a political shield for the Anti-Pesticide Terrorist-Movement.
22. The Golf Industry must very strongly address and discredit the misconceptions concerning imidacloprid, chlorothalonil, 2,4-D, and other chemicals.
23. The Golf Industry MUST VIGOROUSLY EMBARK ON A MASSIVE PUBLIC RELATIONS CAMPAIGN declaring that Pesticide-Free Maintenance is a DISMAL FAILURE. It must STOP VALIDATING the Anti-Pesticide agenda once and for all !
24. The Golf Industry MUST VERY STRONGLY ADDRESS AND DISCREDIT ALL MISCONCEPTIONS concerning imidacloprid, 2,4-D, and other ingredients.
25. The Golf Industry MUST TERMINATE ALL RELATIONSHIPS with ALL TEACHING AND RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS that SUPPORT the PROHIBITION of pest control products. ALL joint activities and educational seminars MUST BE ENDED FOR AN INDEFINITE PERIOD OF TIME. If they are not WITH US, then they are AGAINST US !
26. The Golf Industry MUST OPENLY and FINANCIALLY SUPPORT ALL POLITICAL CANDIDATES WHO OPPOSE ANY PROHIBITION of pest control products.
27. The Golf Industry MUST DEMAND that NEW and ADVANCED products continue to be registered in Canada. Under the present circumstances, the Manufacturing Industry will NO LONGER invest in ANY new pest control products in Canada, since it abhors operating in markets made UNSTABLE by TERRORISM, whether political or environmental. The uncertainty created by Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION means that new products will NOT be brought to the Canadian market.
28. If the Golf Industry wants to EXERT INFLUENCE on Elected Government Officials, it MUST OPENLY AND FINANCIALLY SUPPORT ALL POLITICAL CANDIDATES who oppose ANY Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION. Forget about EDUCATING and CONVINCING Elected Government Officials. GIVE THEM MONEY AND SUPPORT during the next General Election.
Canadian Cancer Society
Cancer-Lunatics can STICK A KNIFE IN THE BACK OF THE GOLF INDUSTRY with impunity because they are FINANCED BY GOLF CANADA.
Canadian Cancer Society CONTINUES TO DEMAND NO Golf Industry Exception Status.
Observers are AGHAST about the Golf Industry raising MILLIONS OF DOLLARS for Anti-Pesticide HIRED-GUNS at Canadian Cancer Society.
For example … the Golf Fore The Cure program of Golf Canada ( a.k.a. Royal Canadian Golf Association ).
Canadian Cancer Society is the Official Charity for Golf Fore The Cure.
Golf Canada is LOATHSOME and RIDICULOUS !
Golf Canada raises over 700,000 DOLLARS per year for the SUBVERSIVE, CONTEMPTIBLE, and RADICAL Canadian Cancer Society.
Cumulatively, since 2004, Golf Canada has provided this Anti-Pesticide Organization with MILLIONS OF DOLLARS through fund-raising programs like Golf Fore The Cure.
Canadian Cancer Society is an Anti-Pesticide Organization that CONSPIRES TO ANNIHILATE the Green Space Industry.
Cancer-Lunatics have TERRORIZED and ANNIHILATED the Professional Lawn Care Industry …
… and Cancer-Lunatics plan to TERRORIZE THE GOLF INDUSTRY NEXT !
Canadian Cancer Society is WASTING its money from Golf Canada by CONSPIRING TO PROHIBIT pest control products that are, in fact, are HEALTH-CANADA-APPROVED, FEDERALLY-LEGAL, SCIENTIFICALLY-SAFE, PRACTICALLY-NON-TOXIC, and CAUSE NO HARM.
Canadian Cancer Society MISAPPROPRIATES a large portion of donations to FINANCE ANTI-PESTICIDE TERRORIST-CONSPIRACIES that have already EXTENSIVELY DAMAGED the Professional Lawn Care Industry !
Furthermore, Canadian Cancer Society has publicly THREATENED, REPEATEDLY, that it PLANS TO TERRORIZE THE GOLF INDUSTRY NEXT !
As long as Golf Canada, and the entire Golf Industry, continue to provide money to Canadian Cancer Society, the Golf Industry WILL BE ANNIHILATED.
Canadian Cancer Society will ENSURE THE INEVITABILITY OF A TOTAL REVOCATION OF THE GOLF INDUSTRY EXCEPTION STATUS.
The Golf Industry will LOSE many or ALL of its valued and necessary pest control products.
THIS IS UNACEPTABLE !
SUBVERSIVE Anti-Pesticide CONSPIRACIES by Canadian Cancer Society MUST END !
The Golf Industry must TERMINATE ALL RELATIONSHIPS with all Anti-Pesticide Organizations that conspire to prohibit pest control products, like Canadian Cancer Society, as well as World Wildlife Fund and others.
All related charitable tournaments that provide financial donations and support to these Anti-Pesticide Organizations must be SUSPENDED.
The Golf Industry, which includes Golf Canada, MUST ALSO OPPOSE ALL FORMS of Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION.
The Golf Industry must TERMINATE ALL RELATIONSHIPS with ALL Anti-Pesticide Organizations that conspire to prohibit pest control products, like Canadian Cancer Society, World Wildlife Fund, and others.
All related charitable tournaments that provide financial donations and sup-port to these Anti-Pesticide Organizations must be SUSPENDED.
Golf Canada must TERMINATE ALL RELATIONSHIPS with all Anti-Pesticide Organizations that conspire to prohibit pest control products, like Canadian Cancer Society.
The fund-raising program Golf Fore The Cure MUST BE TERMINATED.
Golf Canada must immediately STOP ALL FINANCIAL SUPPORT of Anti-Pesticide Terrorism.
Golf Canada MUST CEASE SUPPLYING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to organizations that have publicly THREATENED, REPEATEDLY, the Golf Industry with Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION.
As long as Golf Canada, and the ENTIRE Golf Industry, continue to finance Environmental Terrorism, Cancer-Lunatics will benefit from safe, secure, guaranteed, and well-paying enviro-terror-jobs that will allow them to coerce, intimidate, and alarm Government Officials into prohibiting pest control products on a NATIONAL basis.
Golf is NEXT !
Cancer-Lunatics will TERRORIZE THE GOLF INDUSTRY NEXT !
