COSMETIC PESTICIDE BAN ―
The Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, & Parks ( MECP ) is responsible for regulating the sale, use, transportation, storage, & disposal of pesticides in Ontario, under the « PESTICIDES ACT ». This ministry also legislated Ontario’s « COSMETIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT », THE MOST RADICAL, THE MOST RECKLESS, & THE MOST ARBITRARY PROHIBITION EVER against conventional pest control products used in the urban landscape. These prohibited products cannot be used for so-called cosmetic purposes on lawns, vegetable & ornamental gardens, patios, driveways, as well as in parks & school yards. As of 2020, the government of Ontario remains COMMITTED to the prohibition because left-wing government officials believe it prevents an undesirable patch-work of varied municipal bans. Nonetheless, Ontario’s prohibition should be either SCRAPPED OR AMENDED.
PROTECTION ? ―
Residents in Ontario DO NOT need additional PROTECTION with the prohibition against pesticides. Human health & the environment are already PROTECTED by Health Canada. So-called cosmetic pesticides protections are NOT NECESSARY. Prohibition has been a HARMFUL & DISMAL FAILURE since both human health & the environment have NEVER been protected by this restriction ― they are PROTECTED by Health Canada’s science-based expertise. Besides, if Ontario were serious about its « COSMETIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT », there would be NO #@!!% EXCEPTION STATUSES whatsoever.
EXCEPTION STATUSES ―
And yet, Ontario’s « COSMETIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT » has allowed thousands & thousands of inconsistent & unfair EXCEPTION STATUSES to allow the effective control of invasive & destructive pests on agriculture, cemeteries, playing fields, & golf courses ― even though these areas are maintained by applying the-very-same ingredients otherwise prohibited on public green spaces & residential properties. Furthermore, Ontario’s harmful-prohibition will continue to be THE MOST RADICAL & THE MOST HARMFUL PROHIBITION EVER against the professional lawn care industry. And, for Ontario residents with invasive & destructive pests on their home properties, they will be shжt-outta-luck relying on any exception. In order to be consistent & fair, there should be NO #@!!% EXCEPTION STATUSES whatsoever.
THE INFAMY ―
On April 22nd, 2009 ― a date which will live in the period of ANTI-PESTICIDE & ENVIRONMENTAL INFAMY ― the full force of the job-killing, business-killing, & green-space-destroying Ontario’s « COSMETIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT », THE MOST RADICAL, THE MOST RECKLESS, & THE MOST ARBITRARY PROHIBITION EVER, was imposed by the province’s Liberal government, which DESTROYED the professional lawn care industry. A recent poll regarding Ontario’s prohibition clearly proves that the public & the professional lawn care industry DO NOT want prohibition. Any prohibition in Ontario is NOT necessary since pest control products are Health-Canada-approved, federally-legal, scientifically-safe, practically-non-toxic, & will cause NO harm. Prohibition has been a DISMAL FAILURE since both human health & the environment have never been protected by such a restriction ― they are PROTECTED by Health Canada’s science-based expertise. Because of Ontario’s prohibition, the province is living in ANTI-PESTICIDE & ENVIRONMENTAL INFAMY.
THE AMENDMENTS FOR PROHIBITION ―
The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, & Parks ( MECP ) has proposed amendments concerning the use of pesticides in Ontario, under the « PESTICIDES ACT ». Not surprisingly, Ontario’s « COSMETIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT » will NOT be fully amended, will be maintained, & will NOT be rescinded. Ontario intends to RETAIN the prohibition against conventional pest control products used in the urban landscape, with current exceptions, & will prescribe a single list of allowable pesticides. The government remains COMMITTED to its harmful-prohibition because left-wing government officials believe it prevents an undesirable patch-work of varied municipal bans. Nonetheless, CEMETERIES has been added to the list of pesticide ban EXCEPTION STATUSES. Other exceptions currently include agriculture, playing fields, & golf courses. Ontario’s harmful-prohibition will continue to be THE MOST RADICAL & THE MOST HARMFUL PROHIBITION EVER ― EXTREMELY BIASED & HIGHLY PREJUDICIAL against the professional lawn care industry. Ontario’s « COSMETIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT » continues to be THE MOST RADICAL, THE MOST RECKLESS, & THE MOST ARBITRARY PROHIBITION EVER.
THE AMENDMENTS FOR CLASSIFICATION ―
Ontario intends to HARMONIZE ITS PESTICIDES CLASSES with the federal government’s existing classes. This will align Ontario with federal standards to reduce complexity & redundancy. Pesticides will be classed 1 to 6, with 4 classes as established by Health Canada ― class A ( manufacturing ), class B ( restricted ), class C ( commercial ), & class D ( domestic ). Ontario does not need its own PESTICIDES CLASSES because the human health & the environment are already PROTECTED by Health Canada. Ontario’s Class 11 pesticides, that listed permitted but phony least-toxic options, will be ELIMINATED forever. CLASS 11 PRODUCTS ARE OFTEN INFERIOR & MORE HAZARDOUS GREEN ALTERNATIVE PESTICIDES THAT WILL NOT WORK. These bogus & inferior pesticides should no longer be recommended for lawns & landscapes. Overall, Class 11 pesticides may be inferior & more hazardous & WILL NOT WORK. This is because Ontario officials had NO expertise & NO credibility on matters concerning pest control products.
THE AMMENDMENTS FOR NEONICOTINOIDS ―
As of 2020, Ontario will MAINTAIN THE RESTRICTIONS ( i.e. prohibitions ) against the sale & use of NEONICOTINOID INSECTICIDES ( NNI ). Ontario will continue to be EXTREMELY BIASED & HIGHLY PREJUDICIAL ― playing fields & golf courses will continue to enjoy pesticide ban EXCEPTION STATUSES for neonicotinoids, but NOT professional lawn care. The agriculture industry will benefit from AMENDMENTS since a PEST ASSESSMENT REPORT will only need to be completed ONCE by a PEST ADVISOR, as opposed to being required to be completed every one to three years, depending on the type of inspection forming the basis for the report. Unfortunately, PEST ADVISORS are unmotivated & unwilling to produce neonicotinoid PEST ASSESSMENT REPORTS that will circumvent anti-neonicotinoid prohibition, & help the agriculture industry. PEST ADVISORS are conspiring with the left-wing agenda against neonicotinoid insecticides.
THE NEONICOTINOIDS ―
On July 1st, 2015 ― yet another date which will live in the period of ANTI-PESTICIDE & ENVIRONMENTAL INFAMY ― REGRESSIVE & HARMFUL PROHIBITION against the sale & use of neonicotinoid-treated seeds in Ontario was imposed & proved-to be unnecessary as a means of protecting bees. The neonicotinoid-hating left-wing government officials have cherry-picked science & defied the findings of Health Canada. According to the preliminary pollinator assessment by Health Canada, neonicotinoids like imidacloprid are MINIMAL RISK to bees.
THERE IS NO BEE CRISIS ―
On January 5th, 2016, Health Canada & US Environmental Protection Agency ( US EPA ) released their risk assessments of a neonicotinoid insecticide, imidacloprid, which showed that Approved Pesticide Product Label directions & rules for foliar & seed treatments of imidacloprid should either prevent or limit the risks to honeybees & other pollinators. THERE IS NO BEE CRISIS ― regulatory reviews show that there is a slim risk to bees from neonicotinoid insecticides. Why are a few bee-keepers losing their bees ?!?! The most likely cause of losses are the bee-keepers themselves. Incompetent bee-keepers are killing their own hives.
THE NEONICOTINOID DECISION ―
Health Canada will continue to ALLOW neonicotinoid insecticides for use in certain sectors of the agriculture industry. Everyone must thank Health Canada for imposing no further restrictions against neonicotinoids used on agricultural crop seeds & greenhouse vegetables. Existing neonicotinoid prohibition will remain, but they will not be expanded for the foreseeable future. Additional cancellations & new restrictions will be imposed over the next two- to three-years. This is because neonicotinoid insecticides can be used effectively & safely without unnecessary risk to pollinators. Unfortunately, anti-neonicotinoid terrжrism has not ended ― & it will NEVER end in Canada.
ADVOCACY THAT BETRAYS THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY ―
In Ontario, PEST ADVISORS are unmotivated to perform assessments because they have supported the imposition of reckless & arbitrary neonicotinoid prohibition. Ontario’s left-wing government officials intend to reduce the use of neonicotinoid insecticides on corn & soybean seeds, except when there is a demonstrated pest problem, as assessed by unmotivated & lazy PEST ADVISORS who have ABSOLUTELY NO intention to approve any uses whatsoever. PEST ADVISORS & their trade association have become ADVOCATES who spread propaganda that supports the conspiracy to prohibit against neonicotinoids. Ontario’s PEST ADVISORS are BETRAYING the agriculture industry.
THE AMENDMENTS FOR GOLF COURSES ―
Ontario will REDUCE ITS DEMANDS concerning golf courses, which will no longer be required to present a report on class 9 pesticide use at an annual public meeting. Furthermore, the need for golf courses to advertise in newspapers & hosting community meetings will be removed from some excepted uses. Golf courses are already practicing minimal pesticide use, & must be praised as the planet’s great conservationists.
GOLF EXCEPTION ―
Prohibition has NOT been imposed against local GOLF FACILITIES ― even though golf courses are maintained by applying the-very-same ingredients otherwise prohibited on city-owned green spaces & residential properties. In order to be consistent & fair, there should be NO #@!!% EXCEPTION STATUSES whatsoever.
THE DESTROYERS ―

Who wants this #@!!% anti-pesticide prohibition nonsense ?!?! The scientific evidence backing up Ontario’s prohibition just isn’t there. Because of Ontario’s « COSMETIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT », THE MOST RADICAL, THE MOST RECKLESS, & THE MOST ARBITRARY PROHIBITION EVER, hundreds & hundreds businesses operating in the professional lawn care industry were DESTROYED within 2 or 3 years, & thousands & thousands of professional workers inevitably were INFLICTED WITH HARM THROUGH CATASTROPHIC UNEMPLOYMENT CARNAGE. Additionally, Ontario’s prohibition has allowed thousands & thousands of INCONSISTENT & UNFAIR EXCEPTION STATUSES, including agriculture, golf facilities, sports fields, & more. These exceptions have been conveniently incorporated into the prohibition in order to allow left-wing government officials to CIRCUMVENT prohibition, to arbitrarily suit the needs of elected officials, & to falsely maintain alignment of these officials with their political precepts & doctrines ! According to a letter [ FROM PREVENT CANCER NOW ] to OPAC chair and to the Premier, this volunteer, non-partisan [ ?!?! ], highly-qualified [ ?!?! ], external committee of science-based [ ?!?! ], pesticide professionals [ ?!?! ] expert committee [ ?!?! ] assisting the Ministry regarding pesticides was struck in 1971 by the then-Conservative government to provide necessary expertise, while helping to keep the government lean.
The « PESTICIDES ACT » established OPAC to report directly to the Minister, with a simple, four-part mandate to ―
• review annually the content and operation of this Act and the regulations and recommend changes or amendments therein to the Minister;
• inquire into and consider any matter the Committee considers advisable concerning pesticides and the control of pests, and any matter concerning pesticides and the control of pests referred to it by the Minister, and report thereon to the Minister;
• review publications of the Government of Ontario respecting pesticides and the control of pests, and report thereon to the Minister; and
• perform such other functions as the regulations prescribe. R.S.O. 1990, c. P.11, s. 10.
Nowhere in the current OPAC mandate is the justification for dissolution found in the consultation, that « OPAC’s MAIN ROLE IN PROVIDING ADVICE TO SUPPORT CLASSIFICATION WOULD NO LONGER BE NEEDED … ».

The federal regulations set a minimum, but the province has further OBLIGATIONS [ ?!?!?!?! ] under its jurisdiction, to PROTECT [ I.E. BY IMPOSING HARMFUL-PROHIBITION ] workers, and human health and the environment.

According to the celebrated Dr Bruce Nathan Ames, natural TOXINS already exist in the environment. Many of our foods contain pesticides created by plants for self-protection. Since conventional pest control products are applied at very low doses, they are NOT OF CONCERN to humans. Pesticides DO NOT cause cancer.
According to the renowned Dr Gerald R Stephenson & his research team, after a conventional pest control product DRIES ON THE TURFGRASS LEAF, it is DIFFICULT, if NOT IMPOSSIBLE, TO DISLODGE RESIDUES OFF THE LEAF SURFACE.
CHILDREN ARE NOT AT RISK BECAUSE PESTICIDES WILL CAUSE NO HARM ―
Health Canada & US EPA scientists EVALUATE RISKS to people, including SUSCEPTIBLE GROUPS, in environments where exposure might happen. Consideration of MORE SUSCEPTIBLE POPULATIONS, including ― • CHILDREN • infants • pregnant women • seniors • women of child-bearing age. This is a requirement of the federal « PEST CONTROL PRODUCTS ACT ».
Children are NOT at risk from pesticides because these products WILL NOT CAUSE HARM. The Risk Assessments of pest control products by Health Canada & US Environmental Protection Agency ( US EPA ) take into consideration SENSITIVE GROUPS, such as children, as well as infants & pregnant women. Children are PROTECTED by Health Canada & US EPA.
Children are NOT AT RISK from pesticides, but are at HIGH RISK with pesticide bans. According to Dr James S Bus, there is NO EVIDENCE that pest control products like 2,4-D cause cancer or any health problems in children.
Moreover, there is NOT a scintilla of credible evidence that children have been HARMED by chemicals in the environment, or that they are MORE VULNERABLE to such harm. However, fanatжcal-activists will EXPLOIT, RECRUIT, COERCE, & BRAIN-WASH children with false-alarms of imminent harm from chemicals like pest control products.
GREEN ALTERNATIVES ARE INFERIOR, MORE HAZARDOUS, & WILL NOT WORK ―
There are NO viable alternatives to conventional pesticides. There are only INFERIOR & MORE HAZARDOUS ALTERNATIVES THAT WILL NOT WORK. For the maintenance of turfgrasses, there are NO alternatives that work. There are NO viable, NO efficacious, NO economical, & NO low-risk alternatives to replace conventional pest control products. Green alternative pesticides are BOGUS, INFERIOR, & DISMAL FAILURES.
ONTARIO’s PROHIBITION IS REGRESSIVE & HARMFUL ―
On April 22nd, 2009, the government of Ontario arbitrarily imposed the REGRESSIVE, DESTRUCTIVE, INCONSISTENT, & UNFAIR prohibition against conventional pest control products used by home-owners & by the modern professional lawn care industry. Because of Ontario’s « COSMETIC PESTICIDES BAN ACT », THE MOST RADICAL, THE MOST RECKLESS, & THE MOST ARBITRARY PROHIBITION EVER, hundreds & hundreds businesses operating in the professional lawn care industry were DESTROYED within 2 or 3 years, & thousands & thousands of professional workers inevitably were INFLICTED WITH HARM THROUGH CATASTROPHIC UNEMPLOYMENT CARNAGE. Additionally, Ontario’s prohibition has allowed thousands & thousands of INCONSISTENT & UNFAIR EXCEPTION STATUSES, including agriculture, golf facilities, sports fields, & more. These exceptions have been conveniently incorporated into the prohibition-legislation in order to allow left-wing government officials to CIRCUMVENT prohibition, to arbitrarily suit the needs of elected officials, & to falsely maintain alignment of these officials with their political precepts & doctrines ! In fact, in order to be consistent & fair, there should be NO #@!!% EXCEPTION STATUSES whatsoever ! Of course, prohibition was implemented despite the fact that the restricted products were / are Health-Canada-approved, federally-legal, scientifically-safe, practically-non-toxic, & will cause NO harm. The government of Ontario KNOWS NOTHING about pesticides.
WHY DOES THE ONTARIO PUBLIC REQUIRE PROTECTION FROM SO-CALLED COSMETIC PESTICIDES ?!?! ―
Because they have arbitrarily deemed as non-essential & unnecessary, in defiance of the indisputable & conclusive science-based research showing that, as reported through Health Canada’s confidential test data, conventional pest control products are scientifically-safe & will cause NO harm. Jurisdictions, like the province of Ontario, have empowered themselves to arbitrarily prohibit safe & effective conventional pest control products, &, with extreme bias & total prejudice, have allowed bogus, inferior, & more hazardous green alternative pesticides that WILL NOT WORK because it aligns with their political precepts & doctrines ! It is a fact that ALL prohibitions are NOT based on any scientific evidence, but rather, they are driven by agenda, ideology, propaganda, & fake-news.
