On March 27th, 1996, an improved version was registered for the first time, known as Rovral Green Flowable Fungicide.
On June 24th, 2010, Health Canada announced its proposal to ALMOST ENTIRELY PROHIBIT, NATIONALLY, the use of IPRODIONE fungicide from the Golf Industry.
According to Health Canada, products containing IPRODIONE used on turfgrasses DID pose an unacceptable risk to human health.
Health Canada also proposed an EXCEPTION STATUS for IPRODIONE, for the control of Snow Mold Diseases, with ONE SINGLE APPLICATION allowed per year.
Otherwise, ALL uses of IPRODIONE, which would include turfgrasses, are to be NATIONALLY PROHIBITED due to the health concerns.

For example, CGSA has INCOMPREHENSIBLY SUPPORTED THE PROHIBITION of pest control products used in the Urban Landscape in jurisdictions like Ontario.

On December 10th, 2015, the City of Montreal IMPOSED A TOTAL MUNICIPAL PROHIBITION against ALL NEONICOTINOID INSECTICIDES ― WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

The Imminent Decision By Quebec To Impose Provincial Prohibition Against NEONICOTINOID INSECTICIDES
Quebec is the second-most populous province in Canada, with a population of almost 8,000,000.
On November 22nd, 2015, the Government of Quebec, which is INFESTED with Bee-Conspiracy Fanatics, announced that it will impose RESTRICTIONS ( i.e. PROVINCIAL PROHIBITION ) against the use of NEONICOTINOID INSECTICIDES.
Asked whether his government would plan to impose PROHIBITION against the use on the popular seed treatment, as Ontario has done, Premier Philippe Couillard, a medical doctor, simply said YES.
According to the province’s strategy document entitled Quebec Pesticide Strategy 2015-2018 ―
In order to achieve its vision, Québec will implement a framework for encouraging best practices when using pesticides.
This will involve tightening pesticide use conditions and the implementation of action aimed at increasing user accountability.
Both are part and parcel of the Québec Pesticide Strategy 2015-2018, which seeks to protect :
• Public health, by increasing RESTRICTIONS [ i.e. PROVICIAL PROHIBITIONS ] on the use of pesticides on LAWNS, trees and shrubs in urban environments such as public parks, and the health of farmers, by tightening the supervision of HIGHEST-RISK PESTICIDES [ ?!?! ] used in AGRICULTURE
• Pollinators, by reducing their exposure to NEONICOTINOIDS
• The environment, by limiting the risk of contamination
The use of all NEONICOTINOIDS on lawns and flower beds for esthetic purposes will be BANNED [ i.e. PROHIBITED PROVINCIALLY ].
This proposal will allow Québec to join Ontario’s approach, which since 2009 has BANNED [ PROHIBITED PROVINCIALLY ] the use of pesticides ( including NEONICOTINOIDS ) for esthetic purposes on lawns and in individual gardens.
Québec will make it mandatory for NEONICOTINOID-COATED SEED use to be JUSTIFIED IN ADVANCE by a professional agronomist, as is the case in Ontario.
But Québec will go even farther in this direction, because in addition to covering seeds coated with NEONICOTINOIDS, its approach will also add the requirement of justification by an agronomist before HIGHEST-RISK PESTICIDES [ ?!?! ] ( such as those that include NEONICOTINOIDS, atrazine and chlorpyrifos ) are used.
As well, the application of these pesticides will be subject to more stringent regulations, in particular in regard to mandatory minimum distance near inhabited areas.
Québec’s approach also differs from Ontario’s in that Ontario seeks to reduce the area planted with coated soya and corn seed, while Québec looks to reducing the risk to public health, pollinators and the environment by reducing the use of the MOST DANGEROUS PESTICIDES [ ?!?! ] on all crops.

• All domestic class products.

• Various crops ( alfalfa, apples ( insecticide use ), apricot, barley, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, cherries, clover, corn ( sweet & field ), grapes, kale, oats, peach, pears, peppers, plums, prunes, rye, snapbeans (hand harvest only), strawberries, sweet white lupin, wheat ).
• Balsam fir, spruce, farm woodlots, municipal parks and rights-of-way for control of spruce budworm.
According to Health Canada, certain CARBARYL products or uses POSE RISKS OF CONCERN TO HUMAN HEALTH and DO NOT MEET HEALTH CANADA’S CURRENT STANDARDS FOR HUMAN HEALTH PROTECTION.
RESIDENTIAL USES OF CARBARYL ON TURF, ORNAMENTALS, FRUIT TREES AND VEGETABLE GARDENS ARE OF CONCERN.
RESIDENTIAL USES are performed in AREAS where by-standers, including children, could be exposed to CARBARYL during or after application.
This includes homes, schools, public buildings or any other areas where the general public including children could be exposed.
Health Canada has decided that THESE USES OF CARBARYL WILL BE CANCELLED ( i.e. NATIONALLY PROHIBITED ).
Estimates of exposure using turf transferable residue data and dislodgeable foliar data, as well as CARBARYL specific bio-monitoring data did NOT achieve the target Margin Of Exposure ( MOE ) and/or aggregate risk index for adults and children for all post-application exposure scenarios and some application scenarios, and are therefore OF CONCERN.
RISKS OF CONCERN remained even after consideration of all feasible mitigation measures.
According to Health Canada, CANCER RISKS ARE NOT OF CONCERN to any residential population for the remaining uses of CARBARYL.

In 2004, Crompton Co. registered an improved version of QUINTOZENE, called Terraclor Flowable Fungicide.
On June 24th, 2010, Health Canada announced that it was PHASING-OUT ( i.e. NATIONALLY PROHIBITING ) QUINTOZENE fungicide from the Golf Industry.
According to Health Canada, products containing QUINTOZENE used on turfgrasses DID pose an unacceptable risk to human health and the environment, and, consequently, DID NOT have value since many other products could be used as alternatives to replace it for the control of Snow Mold Diseases.
After its re-evaluation of QUINTOZENE, Health Canada DID grant EXCEPTION STATUSES for the continued registration of certain uses other than turfgrasses.
According to Health Canada, products containing QUINTOZENE used on cole crops and for ornamental bulb dip treatments DID NOT pose unacceptable risk to human health or the environment, and DID have an agricultural value when used according to the label directions.
ALL other uses of QUINTOZENE, which included turfgrasses, were to be PHASED-OUT ( i.e. NATIONALLY PROHIBITED ) due to the health and environmental concerns.
Within the Government of Canada, Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency ( PMRA ) is responsible for administering the Pest Control Products Act on behalf of the Minister of Health.

3. TRADE ASSOCIATIONS ― The Golf Industry’s trade associations must CEASE publicly supporting the prohibition against conventional pest control products used in the urban landscape. These trade associations must STOP torpedoing the Professional Lawn Care Industry.
4. FERTILIZERS ― The Golf Industry must also ADOPT the position that its use of any fertilizers does NOT harm the environment.
5. ANTI-PESTICIDE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS & ACTIVISTS ― The Golf Industry must CEASE its pointless and wasteful attempts to educate and to convince pesticide-hating government officials and activists. These fanatics will NEVER reverse their attitudes against conventional pest control products.

Trade associations allege that the best way to minimize inputs is through the use of integrated pest management ( IPM ), despite the fact that, overall, IPM cultural practices DO NOT control pests of established turf and ornamentals.
9. ORGANIC PESTICIDE-FREE GOLF FACILITIES ― The Golf Industry must ESTABLISH policies for expelling golf facilities using this inaccurate and misleading term from its trade associations. Organic pesticide-free maintenance CANNOT be successful with green alternative pesticides and practices. Additionally, the Golf Industry must VIGOROUSLY EMBARK on a massive public relations campaign to discredit organic pesticide-free maintenance, declaring it as a dismal failure.
10. GREEN ALTERNATIVE PESTICIDES ― The Golf Industry must DENOUNCE the so-called green alternatives to conventional pest control products as bogus. Green alternatives like hydrogen peroxide and compost tea do NOT work, and may even be ILLEGAL.
11. ANTI-PESTICIDE TEACHING & RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS ― The Golf Industry must also DENOUNCE cultural practices as a so-called « legitimate alternative » to the use of conventional pest control products. Cultural practices do NOT work in controlling pests.
12. MAINTENANCE PROTOCOLS ― The Golf Industry must DEVELOP and publish golf maintenance protocols and the performance standards expected by its playing customers. These protocols and standards MUST include the regular use of conventional pest control products.
