Their pesticide-hating criticisms have been DEBUNKED by the City Auditor’s report.
On November 30th, 2017, Edmonton’s Office of the City Auditor’s City Pesticide Use Audit found the city’s pest control measures were EFFECTIVE.
The audit also found that City of Edmonton is SUBSTANTIALLY FOLLOWING the principles of the Integrated Pest Management Policy and regulations for the application of [ no-harm- ] pesticides.
This audit has DEBUNKED all pesticide-hating criticisms against Edmonton.
Moreover, Edmonton’s chlorpyrifos spraying program to combat deadly mosquitoes is an OVERWHELMING SUCCESS.
Only ONE known case of West Nile Virus has been reported in Edmonton since 2013.
This success has, yet again, DEBUNKED all pesticide-hating criticisms against Edmonton.

Following a review of Edmonton’s Integrated Pest Management policy [ ?!?! ], councillors at their meeting earlier this month endorsed a recommendation to update a previous pesticide policy first adopted in 2004.

To their credit, the city is now promising to be more forthcoming with public information about where and when [ no-harm- ] pesticides are used.

Within western governments, national regulatory agencies, like Health Canada, are responsible for administering pest control products.
These agencies help protect the public by researching, assessing, and collaborating in the management of the health risks and safety hazards associated with the many consumer products that are used every day.

Before these products are allowed to be used or sold, they must undergo hundreds of rigorous scientific studies on the possible health effects and the ways children can be exposed to a pest control product.

Using [ junk– ] epidemiology ALONE is a LESS USEFUL METHODOLOGY which is UNRELIABLE and NEARLY-WORTHLESS.
It is NOT REAL SCIENCE, and DOES NOT provide biological or medical explanations for its purported results.
It CAN be useful when looking for food poisoning incidents, high rates of rare disease incidents, and the link between heavy smoking and lung cancer.
[ Junk– ] epidemiology that identifies potential associations MUST BE CONFIRMED with well-conducted ANIMAL TOXICITY STUDIES that are specifically designed to elicit toxic effects over a series of dose levels.
These ANIMAL TOXICITY STUDIES are assessed to determine if there is any biological basis for the potential associations otherwise noted in [ junk– ] epidemiology studies.
The examination of ANIMAL TOXICITY STUDIES from internationally-accepted guideline studies, using doses well-above those to which humans are typically exposed, combined with exposure data obtained from well-designed studies, is currently a MOST USEFUL METHODOLOGY available for assessing risks to human health.
Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency ( PMRA ) undertakes this kind of assessment to SUPPLEMENT information about potential associations that may have been established by [ junk– ] epidemiology studies.
This approach is consistent with that of other regulatory authorities that base human health risk assessments on ANIMAL TOXICITY STUDIES.
For decades, left-wing fanatжcal government officials have been disregarding the NEAR-WORTHLESSNESS of [ junk– ] epidemiology.

Such has not been the case with OCFP.
OCFP DID NOT conduct a serious scientific study … it conducted a mere LITERATURE REVIEW, and would only use [ junk– ] epidemiology studies found in the OPEN PUBLIC LITERATURE.
What did OCFP use as its reference sources ?
GOOGLE and WIKIPEDIA.
In other words, the OCFP LITERATURE REVIEW was conducted with a standard that was NO BETTER THAN A GRADE SCHOOL PROJECT PREPARED BY A 10-YEAR-OLD STUDENT.
Ontario’s provincial prohibition, which was based upon the OCFP LITERATURE REVIEW that heavily relied upon [ junk– ] epidemiology, led to catastrophic business, financial carnage, and ecological carnage throughout the province, without providing any health, environmental, or economic benefits whatsoever. As we all know, Ontario’s provincial prohibition has been responsible for needlessly destroying 100s of businesses and 1000s of professional jobs in the professional lawn care industry. [ See link below. ]
If ANY conventional pest control product was actually a risk to human health, it is fairly certain that this would be ascertained by Health Canada without the need for [ junk– ] epidemiology studies.
