Overview
The Emergence Of Illegal Fiesta Knock-Offs
On April 22nd, 2009, the full force of the Ontario Cosmetic Pesticides Ban Act arbitrarily and recklessly prohibited against conventional pest control products used in the urban landscape.
Because of this provincial prohibition, Ontarians have been unfairly forced to rely on inferior and costly green alternative pesticides like Fiesta Herbicide.
Consequently, it has been impossible to effectively and economically control invasive weeds of lawns.
Dandelions have become the dominant ground cover everywhere in Ontario because there have been NO viable, NO efficacious, NO economical, and NO low-risk alternatives to replace conventional pest control products.
Ontario became a haven for weeds because of the 2009 provincial prohibition, and because of the forced reliance on inferior Fiesta.
Unfortunately, adequate broad-leaved weed control with Fiesta herbicide is only achieved with an exorbitant 6 to 8 repeat applications per season, or more, well beyond the label recommendation of 4 applications.
Because of Fiesta’s need for an exorbitant number repeat applications, as well as its stunningly high cost, Ontario’s lawn care companies have been forced to resort to their own concoctions of low-cost fertilizer-grade agricultural iron equivalent knock-offs, which is illegal under federal law.
Moreover, companies have sought public acceptance of Fiesta by advertising that it is a « natural » and⁄or an « organic » product, which is also illegal under federal law.
Since 2012, lawn care companies have received warnings from the federal government, as well as from the manufacturer of Fiesta, to desist from these activities.
And yet, several companies have ignored these warnings.
With these and other lawn care companies, has a continuous culture of deception been developing since 2009, when prohibition was imposed in Ontario ?!?!
Have these companies adopted the one or both of the following policies ?!?!
• Why bother with legal advertising when you can lie and cheat with fraudulent claims !
• Why bother with legal & registered products like Fiesta when you can lie and cheat with illegal low-cost fertilizer-grade agricultural iron equivalent knock-offs !
In 2017, two lawn care companies, Nutri-Lawn and LawnSavers, have emerged as recent examples of « bad boys ».

In 2017, observers are suggesting that Nutri-Lawn Franchise reconsider its advertising campaign.
Clearly, advertising Fiesta Herbicide as a « natural » product is illegal under federal law.
Definition of the term « natural » pest control product ―
A natural pest control product has an active ingredient that is a biochemical or some other naturally-occurring substance, as opposed to a synthetic pest control product, in which the active ingredient has been manufactured.
Perhaps the advertising cards and video ( as seen above, retrieved in April 2017 ) are remnants of a discontinued campaign, and perhaps Nutri-Lawn is unaware of their existence in the public domain.
This is not the first time that observers have suggested that Nutri-Lawn Franchise reconsider its advertising campaign ― their activities were exposed in 2012. ( See links below. )
Nutri-Lawn Franchise cannot just blink and make this situation go away ― it would be prudent that Nutri-Lawn simply delete the illegal portions of its advertising campaign.
Since 2012, all lawn care companies have received warnings from the federal government to desist from using the term « natural ».
If Nutri-Lawn can’t be a good example, then will it just have to serve as a horrible warning ?!?!

In 2017, observers are suggesting that LawnSavers Plant Health Care Inc of Concord, Ontario, reconsider its advertising campaign.
Clearly, advertising Fiesta Herbicide as a « natural » and an « organic » product is illegal under federal law.

In 2011 and 2012, LawnSavers was exceeding the directions for its use of Fiesta Herbicide in order to improve its mediocre performance as a weed suppression product. ( See links below. )

It must stop using the terms « natural » and an « organic ».
