The Joint Research Centre ( JRC ) has found that the European Union’s 2013 PROHIBITION against Neonicotinoid Insecticides has had NO BENEFIT AT ALL for the protection of bees.

This makes sense because Neonicotinoid Insecticides are mostly used as seed treatments, absorbed into the plant from germination, rather than sprayed on a growing crop.
This makes Neonicotinoid Insecticides more lethal to pests such as flea beetles that eat the crop but less dangerous to innocent by-standers, including bees that collect pollen and encounter lower doses.
Perhaps the European Food Safety Agency should drop the pretense that its PROHIBITION is based on science, but rather, based upon a political determinations driven by whoever can create the most pressure on government officials.

Moreover, since bees DO NOT consume plant tissues, therefore, they cannot be NOT harmed by insecticides. Responsible Bee-Keepers readily admit that poor hive management ( i.e. starvation, weak colonies, fungal infections, and mite infestations ) and weather are most likely to blame for bee losses.
