VICTORY In Port Alberni, British Columbia
Victories Against Anti-Pesticide Terrorists Demonstrate The Real Trends AGAINST Pesticide Bans.
When PROHIBITION is IMPOSED, Government Officials will have done so in DEFIANCE of the TRENDS AGAINST PESTICIDE BANS.
Government Officials have learned a lot from the experience of those jurisdictions that have SUFFERED THE HARDSHIP AND COST AND LIABILITY OF THIS #@!!% PESTICIDE BAN NONSENSE and ARE THINKING TWICE BEFORE Banning Pesticides !
Without pest control products, TURF AND ORNAMENTAL PESTS ARE NOT CONTROLLED.
Without pest control products, COMMUNITIES LIVE IN PEST-INFESTED GARBAGE DUMPS.
Without pest control products, CHILDREN ARE NOT KEPT SAFE FROM DANGEROUS PLAYING SURFACES.
Without pest control products, MUNICIPALITIES CANNOT AFFORD TO MAINTAIN THEIR GREENS SPACES IN BEAUTIFUL AND SAFE CONDITION.
Without pest control products, GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS ARE LIABLE FOR CHILDREN BEING HURT ON DANGEROUS PEST-INFESTED PLAYING SURFACES.

● Port Alberni ( British Columbia )
Victory In Port Alberni, British Columbia
PROHIBITION RESCINDED
Port Alberni is a city located in the province of British Columbia, with a population of almost 18,000.
Despite its good intentions, the City of Port Alberni has RESCINDED ITS PESTICIDE REDUCTION BY-LAW ( a.k.a. Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION ).
In 2009, Port Alberni had adopted PROHIBITION against pest control products used in the Urban Landscape.
The 2009 PROHIBITION was IMPOSED under the PRETEXT of somehow protecting the environment from so-called non-essential chemicals.
Because of the FAILURE of Organic Pesticide-Free Maintenance and the STUNNINGLY EXORBITANT COST of maintaining Green Spaces without pest control products, PROHIBITION WAS RESCINDED.
Port Alberni will instead follow an annual pest management plan with an eye to reducing pesticide use in the city where it can.
Victory In Port Alberni, British Columbia
Failure Of Organic Pesticide-Free Maintenance
Because of Port Alberni’s PROHIBITION, Green Alternative Pesticides and Practices were shown to be DISMAL FAILURES.
When Port Alberni’s 2009 PROHIBITION was IMPOSED, Municipal Employees implemented a series of measures that were INEFFECTIVE.
FAILURE ― MANUAL CULTIVATION was attempted but was found to be TOO LABOUR INTENSIVE, particularly in times of reduced staffing.
FAILURE ― PROPANE BLOW-TORCHES were used by Municipal Employees on hard surface areas at baseball fields in 2010, and were INEFFECTIVE since only the tops of weeds were burned and the roots remained unaffected.
FAILURE ― VINEGAR SOLUTIONS were tried next but again didn’t impact the plants’ roots, and the applications were INEFFECTIVE except for controlling small weeds and soft plants.
FAILURE ― BARK MULCHING of shrub beds was used with MODERATE SUCCESS by choking down weeds while keeping the soil moist and keeping the roots cool.
Victory In Port Alberni, British Columbia
Stunningly Exorbitant Costs ― Fiesta Herbicide
Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION led to Port Alberni being forced to spend STUNNINGLY EXORBITANT AMOUNTS OF MONEY.
Port Alberni’s Government Officials have used Fiesta Herbicide as an example of the EXORBITANT COST of Organic Pesticide-Free Maintenance.
Port Alberni would have to spend 32,000 DOLLARS to apply four applications of Fiesta Herbicide on city playing fields per year.
In comparison, one application of Killex would cost 1,600 DOLLARS to apply and would last four years.
Fiesta Herbicide was registered and approved for use in 2010 as a so-called Green Alternative Pesticide, and was quickly incorporated into Port Alberni’s weed control programs ― NOT BECAUSE OF ITS EFFICACY, but because of Port Alberni’s decision that IMPOSED AN UNECCESSARY AND UNREALISTIC ANTI-PESTICIDE PROHIBITION which PREVENTED Municipal Employees from using conventional herbicides that WERE TRULY EFFECTIVE AS WELL AS SAFE.
There is little debate about the fact that Port Alberni’s PROHIBITION converted its Green Spaces into SHABBIER AND DANGEROUS PEST-INFESTED GARBAGE DUMPS because Fiesta Herbicide was a COSTLY AND DISMAL FAILURE.
It is IMPOSSIBLE for Municipal Employees to keep Port Alberni’s Green Spaces BEAUTIFUL AND SAFE by using so-called Green Alternative Pesticides.
There are NO valid economical alternatives to replace products like Killex.
In fact, conventional herbicides, such as Killex, are deemed SAFER than

BC’s Special Committee on Cosmetic Pesticides
On May 17th, 2012, British Columbia’s ( BC ) Special Committee On Cosmetic Pesticides STOPPED THE TREND towards NEEDLESS, SENSELESS, and MALICIOUS PROHIBITION.
The Special Committee announced that it WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PROHIBITION against pest control products used in the Urban Landscape.
By RESCINDING ITS OWN PROHIBITION, Port Alberni is taking its cue from British Columbia’s Special Committee On Cosmetic Pesticides.
The Special Committee researched the issue by examining regulatory framework, heard from more than 8,600 participants, and looked at bans in other cities.
According to BC’s Special Committee On Cosmetic Pesticides ―
… despite the intensity of the arguments in favour of the ban on cosmetic use of pesticides
… THERE IS INSUFFICIENT SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT A PROVINCE-WIDE BAN ON PESTICIDES FOR COSMETIC USE.
The majority of the committee SUPPORTS USING SCIENCE BASED EVIDENCE and WILL NOT RESTRICT ACCESS to products that are approved for safe use in Canada.
It is COMMON KNOWLEDGE that there are NO pest control products that are known or probable carcinogens.
Pest control products are SCIENTIFICALLY SAFE, and NO HARM WILL OCCUR when they are used according to label directions.

In 2010, Port Alberni Considered Green Alternatives As INEFFECTIVE
Ineffective alternatives have forced the city to re-think its pesticide spraying policy.
In British Columbia, Port Alberni city councillors voted to allow strategic use of the herbicide Roundup at their October 25th meeting.
In 2009, the city adopted a pesticide prohibition that forewent the non-essential use of pesticides in favour of allegedly less stringent options.
According to Scott Kenny, the Parks and Recreation Director ―
Those options don't cut it.
FAILURE IN 2010 ― VINEGAR-BASED PRODUCT ― Municipal Employees tried this on weeds … to no avail.
FAILURE IN 2010 ― MANUAL CULTIVATION methods are too labour intensive.
FAILURE IN 2010 ― PROPANE BLOW-TORCHING has little to no effect.
According to Scott Kenny, the Parks and Recreation Director ―
It worked well on young plants but not on mature ones.
Kenny recommended reverting back to using Roundup on ball diamonds and hard surface areas ― now and in the spring.
The other methods could be reverted to again during the sports playing season.
Enviro-Lunatic Councillor John Douglas spoke against the initiative ―
I’m reluctant to do what we said we weren’t going to do.
Parks and Recreation Director Kenny was adamant that the problem needed to be dealt with now before it gets bigger and more costly to deal with ―
We need the help now.
If not, I’ll be back here next year with a request for more staff than we already have.

GREEN ALTERNATIVES … BOGUS & DISMAL FAILURES ( Web-Page )
In 2010, Cancer-Lunatics LIED and LIED and LIED and LIED
In 2010, Nancy Falconer and Adriane Schroeder, came to Port Alberni to give MISINFORMATION to the public and to city council.
These Cancer-Lunatics took part in a public forum on pest control products arranged by the Alberni Environmental Coalition, a local Anti-Pesticide Terrorist Organization.
These Cancer-Lunatics formed part of local delegations to council DEMANDING a PROHIBITION against pest control products used in the Urban Landscape.
Nancy Falconer is a truth-challenged non-expert anti-pesticide lobbyist who is paid-for-profit to concoct imaginary dangers for Canadian Cancer Society.
According to Falconer ―
The Canadian Cancer Society is very concerned about the growing body of evidence suggesting pesticides may increase the risk of several types of CANCERS. [ ?!?! ]
It is COMMON KNOWLEDGE that there are NO pest control products that are known or probable carcinogens.
Are we to believe that an assessment on pest control products from Falconer is somehow worth more than Health Canada ?!?!
Cancer-Lunatics are paid HEFTY SUMS OF PROFIT as « experts » on the IMAGINARY DANGER of pest control products, despite the fact that they have NO recognized expertise, training, or background in this matter.
