Mississauga’s Anti-Pesticide Prohibition
In 1995, City of Mississauga, Ontario, began IMPLEMENTING the PROHIBITION against pest control products under the PRETEXT of protecting health and environment.
Mississauga is a city in Southern Ontario on the shores of Lake Ontario, in the western part of the Greater Toronto Area, with a population of over 700,000.
In 1995, Mississauga Council approved an ANTI-PESTICIDE POLICY which included ―
• NO PESTICIDE USE for general parkland
• Spot spraying only for sports fields
The following information was retrieved from Mississauga’s web-site in 2012 ―
The City of Mississauga is recognized as a leader in Plant Health Care and has utilized Integrated Pest Management ( IPM ) practices since 1990.
IPM practices involve the use of various control measures to reduce weed and pest populations in trees and turfed areas.
The City manages weed and pest populations through a variety of physical, biological and cultural practices.
PESTICIDES ARE ONLY USED WHEN THERE ARE NO OTHER EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVES.
The City has also adopted a practice that NEIGHBOURHOOD AND GENERAL PARK AREAS NOT BE SPRAYED WITH PESTICIDES.

The Cost Of Mississauga’s Prohibition
Mississauga’s LUNATIC ANTI-PESTICIDE PROHIBITION resulted in Municipal Employees being FORCED TO ENDURE THE BACK-BREAKING AND AGONIZING JOB OF WEED-PULLING BY HAND.
GREEN ALTERNATIVE – MANUAL WEED PICKING NIGGAR WORK ( Web-Page )
Additionally, Mississauga’s LUNATIC ANTI-PESTICIDE PROHIBITION guaranteed that NATURAL GRASS SPORTS FIELDS ARE ON THE PATH TO EXTINCTION ?
By 2010, Mississauga replaced SIX NATURAL GRASS SPORTS FIELDS with ARTIFICIAL/SYNTHETIC FIELDS.
This is because Mississauga’s Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION has made it IMPOSSIBLE TO NURSE DAMAGED NATURAL GRASS SPORTS FIELDS BACK TO HEALTH.
With NO WAY TO SAVE FIELDS THAT BECOME INFESTED WITH WEEDS, the sensible solution has been to SWITCH TO PLASTIC TURF.
Hence, there is a risk of children and adults picking up a STAPH INFECTION while playing on ARTIFICIAL/SYNTHETIC GRASS, although the risk is quite REMOTE … about as REMOTE, in fact, as the risk posed by REGULATED PESTICIDES when properly and responsibly used.
Mississauga’s LUNATIC ANTI-PESTICIDE PROHIBITION, IMPOSED under the PRETEXT of protecting health and environment, is exposing children and adults to different and equally minuscule risks.
Because of Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION, Mississauga WAS REGULARLY FORCED TO IMPLEMENT MAJOR TURF RENOVATIONS ON NATURAL GRASS FIELDS, REPRESENTING A COST OF 200,000 DOLLARS PER FIELD.

The City Of Hypocritical Anti-Pesticide Policy
Predictably, Mississauga’s LUNATIC ANTI-PESTICIDE PROHIBITION has been conveniently used as an example by Anti-Pesticide Activists as a means to VALIDATE MORE PROHIBITIONS across North America.
In fact, MISSISSAUGA USES PEST CONTROL PRODUCTS ON AN ARBITRARY BASIS.
Essentially, Mississauga continues to recognize that pest control products are SCIENTIFICALLY-SAFE, and CAUSE NO HARM to health or environment.
Mississauga is THE CITY OF HYPOCRITICAL ANTI-PESTICIDE POLICY.
Definition of HYPOCRISY ―
Hypocrisy is the state of pretending to have beliefs, opinions, virtues, feelings, qualities, or standards that one does not actually have.
Hypocrisy involves the deception of others, and is thus a LIE.
« Spraying The Stuff All Over The Place »
According to a report on August 27th, 2012 ―
MISSISSAUGA BREAKS OUT THE TOXINS.
Mississauga doesn’t pass smell test.
The stretch along Burnhamthorpe Road from City Centre to beyond the Credit Valley Bridge has been SPRAYED WITH PESTICIDE BY THE CITY TO CONTROL WEEDS.
This area is opposite Riverwood Park.
When it comes to use of pesticides, the City of Mississauga is NOT LEADING BY EXAMPLE.
Supposedly, Mississauga had adopted a practice that NEIGHBOURHOOD AND GENERAL PARK AREAS NOT BE SPRAYED WITH PESTICIDES.
While ORDINARY FOLKS ARE DRIVEN TO THEIR WIT’S END trying to keep their properties from being OVER-RUN BY WEEDS AND OTHER PESTS …
… MISSISSAUGA IS SPRAYING THE STUFF ALL OVER THE PLACE.
Mississauga Took The Easy Way Out
According to a report on August 27th, 2012 ―
On August 22nd, 2012, Mississauga treated the sidewalk and median areas along Burnhamthorpe Road all the way from City Centre to the Credit River Bridge.
That trailway is heavily used by pedestrians, joggers, and cyclists, and even four days later, the smell of the chemical — a product called FIESTA, classified as a class 2 chemical, according to the notice — still hung in the air.

Signs containing application information were posted in the treated areas.
The signs stated the treatment was applied to control « weeds in turf ».
You would think the municipality would find a less toxic way to control the weeds without wide-spread application of toxins.
Instead, MISSISSAUGA TOOK THE EASY WAY OUT.
Meanwhile, there are reports of home-owners, at huge personal expense, HAVING TO RIP OUT ENTIRE LAWNS AFTER THEY WERE IRREMEDIABLE DESTROYED BY PESTS.
Mississauga Failed
The public is puzzling why certain organizations, such as municipalities and golf courses, are EXEMPT FROM THE ONTARIO PESTICIDE BAN.
If anything, these organizations have better resources to deal with pest problem.
According to some quarters, politics, not science, is driving the Mississauga’s LUNATIC ANTI-PESTICIDE PROHIBITION.
But that’s a discussion for another time.
Mississauga’s so-called Organic and Pesticide-Free Maintenance is a DISMAL FAILURE.

In Ontario, Government Officials were OFFICIALLY WARNED about the CATASTROPHIC CARNAGE or SUN-SETTING that would result from PROHIBITION.
The Environmental Commissioner’s Report to the Ontario Legislative Assembly on October 6th, 2009, OFFICIALLY WARNED Government Officials about the SUN-SETTING CARNAGE of that would result from PROHIBITION ―
