Pesticide Bans Lead To GARBAGE DUMPS
In the City of Durango, Colorado …
On August 21st, 2012, the Durango City Council VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO REJECT a petition-driven ordinance ( a.k.a. Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION ) against the use of conventional pest control products, as well as non-organic fertilizers, on city parks and property.
The City of Durango is located in the State of Colorado, with a population of almost 17,000.
On August 21st, 2012, Durango City Council listened to a three-hour debate with attempts to COERCE Municipal Government Officials to IMPOSE PROHIBITION against the use of pest control products in the Urban Landscape.
Anti-Pesticide Lunatics ATTEMPTED TO DECEIVE CITY COUNCIL BY ALLEGING THAT OTHER JURISDICTIONS HAVE SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED PROHIBITIONS, such as Boulder, Colorado.
In response, Municipal Government Officials noted the ABUNDANCE OF WEEDS in Boulder parks when relying on so-called ORGANIC PESTICIDE-FREE MAINTENANCE.
Municipal Government Officials also estimated that Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION will lead to STUNNINGLY EXORBITANT MAINTENANCE COSTS as well as GARBAGE DUMP Green Spaces, just like many other jurisdictions in North America.
The costs for maintaining Durango’s PARKS will INCREASE from $34,550 to $237,450 annually.
The costs for maintaining Durango’s NATURAL LANDS will INCREASE from $8,000 to $76,700 annually.
Municipal Employees will be forced to resort to the BACK-BREAKING AND AGONIZING JOB OF WEED-PULLING BY HAND.
Municipal Government Officials URGED ANTI-PESTICIDE LUNATICS TO CONSIDER A MORE COLLABORATIVE APPROACH IN DRAFTING ANOTHER ORDINANCE with various stakeholders, such as representatives for the Hillcrest Golf Course and Professional Lawn Care companies.
Mayor Doug Lyon REJECTED THE FEARS OF PEST CONTROL PRODUCTS by citing information from web-sites of the Environmental Protection Agency and Health Canada, agencies that have approved pest control products for use in the Urban Landscape.
Durango’s Municipal Government Officials attempted to APPEASE local Anti-Pesticide Lunatics with so-called CHEMICAL FREE PARKS.
Two city-owned parks, Brookside and Pioneer, were designated as so-called CHEMICAL FREE PARKS.
The condition of these parks relied upon so-called ORGANIC PESTICIDE-FREE MAINTENANCE AND NON-ORGANIC FERTILIZER.
The CHEMICAL FREE PARKS were ABYSMAL FAILURES.
They were examples of why ORGANIC MAINTENANCE CANNOT WORK ON A LARGER SCALE without turning the entire city into a GIGANTIC GARBAGE DUMP.

The so-called CHEMICAL-FREE PARKS are unsightly due to the BROAD-LEAVED PLANTAIN WEEDS growing amidst the grass where the children play.
It would be preferable to apply pest control products that are SCIENTIFICALLY-SAFE, CAUSE NO HARM, and are NO THREAT TO CHILDREN.
Mechanical aeration of the soil, applications of gypsum, and over-seeding with improved cultivars WILL NOT CONTROL WEEDS.
According to Durango’s Municipal Government Officials ―
We put up signs to let residents know the parks were maintained organically as a way to APOLOGIZE for how badly they look. Those two parks are AT LEAST 50 PER CENT WEED-COVERED.
ORGANIC PESTICIDE-FREE MAINTENANCE IS NOT ECONOMICALLY VIABLE WITHOUT DROVES OF LABORERS TO HAND PULL UNWANTED PLANTS.
Moreover, Durango’s CHEMICAL FREE PARKS HAVE DOOMED CHILDREN TO SUFFER INJURIES.
PESTICIDE-FREE MAINTENANCE creates HAZARDOUS SLIPPING CONDITIONS in sports turf.
In fact, WITH PESTICIDE-FREE MAINTENANCE, children are actually AT HIGH RISK OF TRIPPING and becoming SERIOUSLY HURT.
