1341730 Ontario Inc. Fined $2,000 For Performing A Land Extermination Without A Permit
SUDBURY – On May 10, 2011,
1341730 Ontario Inc. pleaded guilty to one violation under the Pesticides Act for performing a land extermination without a permit.
The Court heard that the company operates pest control business in Wawa. The company was retained by Canadian Pacific Railway to conduct a pesticide program for vegetation control along the rail right of way in Chelmsford. In July 2009, an employee conducted the pesticide spray program on the rail right of way, utilizing a company truck equipped with a pesticide holding tank, pump and spray booms. The pesticide product used requires a permit issued by the ministry which the company did not obtain.
The company was charged following an investigation by the ministry’s Investigations and Enforcement Branch.
The company was fined $2,000 plus a victim fine surcharge and was given one year to pay the fine.
