In March 2013, Health Canada issued a notice of violation with a $4,000 penalty under the Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties Act to Miedema Honey Farm Inc., for using an unregistered pest control product in their beehives, containing the active ingredient amitraz. In addition, Health Canada issued a notice of violation with a $4,000 penalty under the Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties Act to Miedema Honey Farm Inc., for importing an unregistered pest control product, containing the active ingredient thymol.
