I am writing to you as a private citizen living in the city of Montreal, Quebec, where we have had a pesticide ban in place for many years.
From what I understand, your beautiful city of Kamloops is considering imposing a ban [ which was defeated ] on the use of pesticides for cosmetic purposes. Kudos to you!
Life does go on, being pesticide-free. The lawn care companies are still in business, having switched over to safer, non-toxic products. Perhaps, they have even more clients now, knowing that their lawns are pesticide free. You've got to think about your CHILDREN playing on the lawn. Think about your pets. As you dog owners know, many of them are grass-nibblers. Why would you knowingly let them graze on pesticide treated grass? [ ?!?! ]
Shame on you. Think about your chemical-sensitive neighbors. You are depriving them of enjoying the outdoors because you choose to spray. I am very thankful we have none of these issues here.
You can still have a beautiful lawn. There are alternative methods. I have a novel idea I'd like to share. Have you ever thought of physically removing dandelions yourself? I do it. My neighbors do it. Or, you can buy a dandelion remover tool sold at most stores. No bending required. C'mon people, the exercise will do you good. [ ?!?! ]
The bottom line here is common sense. Why use toxic chemicals where there is absolutely no need to? Educate yourselves. Do your homework. There is a lot of easily accessible info out there. [ ?!?! ]
Do the right thing, for yourself and everyone you love. Support the ban on cosmetic pesticide use. You won't regret it. We don't. [ WRONG ! ]
From a concerned person who is totally enjoying her pesticide-free green space. Have a nice day. I know I will. [ ?!?! ]

NORAHG RESPONSE
Children Are NOT At Risk
According to Anti-Pesticide Activist Joanne MacDonald ―
« You’ve got to think about your children playing on the lawn. » [ ?!?! ]
The safety assessments of pest control products by Pest Management Regulatory Agency of Heath Canada ( PMRA ) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA ) DO take children into consideration.
These assessments DO consider children’s physiology, behaviours, and habits while playing on treated grass.
Moreover, there are NO valid reports of pest control product problems with children.
Anti-Pesticide Activists like MacDonald ALLEGE that children are somehow MORE vulnerable to pest control products.
This is a MYTH !
Anti-Pesticide Activists like MacDonald are DESPICABLE in their use of CHILDREN as WEAPONS OF COERCION and ULTIMATE TERROR in order to promote Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION.

Without pest control products, HAZARDOUS SLIPPING AND TRIPPING CONDITIONS OCCUR, placing CHILDREN AT RISK OF INJURY and becoming SERIOUSLY HURT.
Pest control products PROTECT CHILDREN by PREVENTING SLIPPING INJURIES on playing surfaces.

The Public REJECTS PROHIBITION in B.C.
Where does the public stand on the use of so-called chemical pesticides ?
A recent POLL conducted by Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association ( CCSPA ) showed that the VAST MAJORITY of residents in British Columbia are OPPOSED to the PROHIBITION of conventional pest control products, and they actually FAVOUR the continued use of these products around their homes and in public green spaces.

The Public REJECTS PROHIBITION in Ontario
According to another recent Ontario poll, MORE THAN HALF of Ontario home-owners feel the provincial government DID NOT DO THE RIGHT THING by implementing Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION.
Ontario home-owners WOULD RATHER HAVE THE BAN SCRAPPED OR MODIFIED.

CATASTROPHIC CARNAGE
Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION has led to HORRENDOUS and CATASTROPHIC CARNAGE for businesses operating in the Professional Lawn Care Industry, in the form of IMMENSE LOSSES OF REVENUES, BUSINESS FAILURES, BANKRUPTCY, and UNEMPLOYMENT, and even HORRIFIC FINES.
WHO CAN AFFORD THIS #@!!% BAN NONSENSE ?!?!

Indisputable Proof ― Pesticides DO NOT Cause Cancer
Pest control products are SCIENTIFICALLY SAFE, and NO HARM WILL OCCUR when they are used according to label directions.
There is NOT ONE KNOWN CANCER DEATH from the proper use of pest control products used in the Urban Landscape.
Even Canadian Cancer Society states on several of its web-sites that scientific research DOES NOT PROVIDE A CONCLUSIVE LINK between pesticides and human cancer.
NO CONCLUSIVE LINK ( Report )
Pest control products like 2,4-D Herbicide have been used for the control of broad-leaved weeds in the Urban Landscape SINCE 1946.
2,4-D has a 65-YEAR UNBLEMISHED SAFETY RECORD regarding long-term risk to health.
Health Canada’s EXTENSIVE TOXICOLOGY DATABASE INDISPUTABLY PROVES that pest control products are SCIENTIFICALLY SAFE since they have been scrutinized and approved by the HUNDREDS of expert scientists at Health Canada !
Health Canada requires each new pest control product to go through about TWO-HUNDRED SEPARATE TESTS to examine health and environmental impacts as well as value, and costing about 250 MILLION DOLLARS.
There are THOUSANDS OF DEATHS per year from KNOWN CANCER-CAUSING SUBSTANCES such as cigarette smoke and alcohol.
Conversely, Anti-Pesticide Organizations like Canadian Cancer Society have NOT SPENT A SINGLE PENNY to research pest control products.
Anti-Pesticide Activists like MacDonald COULD NOT EVEN BE BOTHERED to have used the EXTENSIVE TOXICOLOGY DATABASE that is available from Health Canada.
They are not only SCIENTIFICALLY IGNORANT, but also LAZY and OBTUSE.
Furthermore, according to American Cancer Society, CANCER RATES AND DEATHS ARE ACTUALLY DROPPING.

MacDonald Is NOT Credible
MacDonald’s RANTS have the effect of making children ANXIOUS and adults ALARMED AND ENRAGED because of her FABRICATIONS, her INNUENDOS, and her CONCOCTIONS OF IMAGINARY DANGER.
Scientific research shows, as reported through Health Canada’s VAST TOXICOLOGY DATABASE, that NO HARM WILL OCCUR when pest control products are used according to label directions.
The RISK ASSESSMENT of pest control products indicates that they are PRACTICALLY-NON-TOXIC.
Consequently, it is a fact that pest control products cause NO HARM, including chronic effects such as CANCER.
