On May 31st, 2012, Bill 88 was introduced to AMEND THE BAN ON PESTICIDES, and ALLOW LICENSED PROFESSIONALS TO APPLY THESE PRODUCTS under strict conditions and in concentrations well within established safety limits.
Bill 88 had the added effect of STRENGTHENING the Professional Lawn Care Industry that has been DEVASTATED by the McGuinty Liberals’ ARBITRARY PESTICIDE BAN.

On May 31st, 2012, a Private Member’s Bill introduced by Ted Chudleigh, Member of Provincial Parliament ( MPP ) for Halton in Ontario, was defeated by Anti-Pesticide members of the Liberal and New Democratic Party ( NDP ) caucuses.
In Ontario, the Liberal and New Democratic ( NDP ) Parties function as the POLITICAL SHIELDS for Anti-Pesticide Organizations.
The Chudleigh Bill was designed to AMEND the Pesticides Act which came into effect on April 22nd, 2009.
On May 9th, 2012, Mr. Chudleigh moved first reading his Bill 88, An Act to AMEND the Pesticides Act to provide for the use of pesticides for cosmetic purposes WITH A LICENCE.
It passed first reading.
According to Mr. Chudleigh, in the House on May 9th, 2012 ―
Basically, this bill ALLOWS A PROFESSIONAL APPLICATOR TO APPLY APPROVED PESTICIDES to control weeds or pests on your lawn or garden.
On May 30th, 2012, Anti-Pesticide Organizations FRANTICALLY sent a letter to ALL Ontario Members of Provincial Parliament ( MPPs ) urging them to OPPOSE the Chudleigh Bill.
Not surprisingly, the Liberals and NDP MPPs GANGED UP TO DEFEAT the Chudleigh Bill on its second reading on May 31st, 2012.
However, the Chudleigh Bill had a GREAT DEAL OF VALUE, for among other things, it BROUGHT TOGETHER THE GREAT SWELL OF THE PUBLIC who now think THE ORIGINAL 2009 PROHIBITION HAS GONE WAY TOO FAR.
The MAJORITY of Ontarians AGREE with Mr. Chudleigh, since according to a recent Ontario poll, MORE THAN HALF of Ontario residents believe that the provincial government DID NOT DO THE RIGHT THING by implementing Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION.
Ontario residents WOULD RATHER HAVE THE BAN SCRAPPED OR MODIFIED.
It should be noted that the Chudleigh Bill ONLY INCLUDED APPLICATION BY PROFESSIONAL APPLICATORS, and DID NOT include application of pest control products by residents/home-owners.
INDISPUTABLE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH shows that, as reported through Health Canada’s VAST TOXICOLOGY DATABASE, NO HARM WILL OCCUR when pest control products are used according to label directions.
The RISK ASSESSMENT of pest control products indicates that they are PRACTICALLY-NON-TOXIC.
Thankfully, Mr. Chudleigh AGREED ― and deserves CONGRATULATION.

Time To Amend Pesticide Ban
The ( Dalton ) McGuinty PESTICIDE BAN has TAKEN AWAY THE ABILITY of people to SAFEGUARD THEMSELVES AGAINST NOXIOUS WEEDS AND DISEASE-CARRYING INSECTS.
As a result, ONTARIO NOW HAS A MORE DANGEROUS OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENT, a BLACK MARKET IN PESTICIDES, and a TRAIL OF ECONOMIC DESTRUCTION WITH HUNDREDS OF SMALL BUSINESSES DESTROYED and THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE OUT OF WORK.
What has happened is the predictable effect of USING JUNK SCIENCE TO JUSTIFY A POLITICAL DECISION.
Of course I am concerned with the overuse of pesticides and the potential effects they could have on our environment.
SHOW ME THE SCIENCE.
SHOW ME THE EVIDENCE.
I am also concerned about reports that deer ticks which carry Lyme disease are running wild, particularly in semi-rural areas just outside our cities.
I am concerned about NOXIOUS WEEDS, which in extreme cases can contribute to DEATH and which FORCE MILLIONS TO MEDICATE THEMSELVES or LIVE WITH SEVERE ALLERGIC EFFECTS.

These products are RIGOROUSLY TESTED AND MONITORED BY HEALTH CANADA.
Surely the entirely UNPROVEN CONCERNS of a few POLITICALLY-CONNECTED FEAR-MONGERERS should be balanced against the STRICTLY-TESTED, LENGTHY AND SCIENTIFICALLY-DOCUMENTED USE OF PESTICIDES applied under controlled conditions to deal with human health problems caused by noxious plants and disease-carrying insects.
The current regime encourages people to purchase pesticides and apply them in strong concentrations.
Bill 88 requires professional application and has the added effect of STRENGTHENING AN INDUSTRY THAT HAS BEEN DEVASTATED by the McGuinty Liberals’ ARBITRARY POSITION on this issue.
It is only a matter of time before problems in rural and semi-rural areas come to an urban area near you.
I would also like to reduce the Big Brother effect of the current legislation.
Golf courses are currently exempt but have to hold an annual meeting open to local residents to outline the use of pesticides.
Despite the considerable expense of these meetings they are inevitably ignored by the public.
These Big Bother government regulations ADD TO THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS, simply for the optics it creates for government benefit.
Surely providing a report on pesticide use to residents who request it should be more than sufficient for public information.
I’m hopeful that common sense supported by 21st century science will triumph in the end.
PESTICIDE BANS KILL PEOPLE !
On June 28th, 2011, an Ontario resident did not realize that HAND-WEEDING A TOXIC NOXIOUS WEED on his property would CONTRIBUTE TO HIS DEATH.
This Ontario resident was ULTIMATELY DOOMED since the SAFEST AND MOST EFFECTIVE METHOD OF CONTROLLING TOXIC NOXIOUS WEEDS was PROHIBITED in Ontario.
Contact with this TOXIC NOXIOUS WEED resulted in severe burns to his hands and arms, eventually forcing him to be hospitalized ― ultimately, he DIED.
Unfortunately, the Government of Ontario had IMPOSED a LUNATIC Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION.

Anti-Pesticide Terrorism NEVER Ends
The Ontario PESTICIDE BAN led to HORRENDOUS AND CATASTROPHIC CARNAGE.
LOSS OF REVENUES, BUSINESS FAILURES, BANKRUPTCY, and UNEMPLOYMENT.
Because of the Ontario PESTICIDE BAN, Professional Lawn Care businesses were forced to TERMINATE many or most of their employees.
The Ontario Professional Lawn Care Industry LOST OVER 500,000,000 DOLLARS, with UP TO 12,500 UNEMPLOYED.
The DEVASTATION of the Professional Lawn Care Industry was EXTENSIVE because there were NO valid economical alternatives to replace the prohibited products.
Consequently, Professional Lawn Care Companies were INCAPABLE of providing adequate weed and insect control, and were UNABLE to keep their customers satisfied.
The Ontario PESTICIDE BAN inflicted TERROR, DESPAIR, and DESTITUTION on THOUSANDS of hapless victims throughout the Professional Lawn Care Industry.
The Ontario PESTICIDE BAN DESTROYED the Modern Professional Lawn Care Industry.
And because of the Ontario PESTICIDE BAN, greens spaces became WEED-INFESTED and INSECT-DESTROYED GARBAGE DUMPS.
The BAN was NEEDLESS, SENSELESS, and MALICIOUS.

Everyone in the Green Space Industry ― no matter where they live ― must meet with their Member of Provincial Parliament ( MPP ), regardless of party affiliation.
In order to meet and inform the MPP, you must donate the maximum amount to the party, which is 1,240 dollars in Ontario.
The cost of this donation is insignificant when compared to the catastrophic business losses inflicted by anti-pesticide prohibition.
Any business owner in the Green Space Industry who does not bother to meet with the local MPP is a pitiful fool and an idiot, and does not deserve a career, or a business, or any success.

Ted Chudleigh is disappointed his Private Member’s Bill aimed at LOOSENING THE RULES AROUND ONTARIO’S CONTROVERSIAL COSMETIC PESTI-CIDE BAN was defeated at QUEEN’S PARK on May 31st, 2012.
That doesn’t mean he won’t fight on.
Chudleigh knows the Ontario PESTICIDE BAN is a polemic subject, and will now push for the Progressive Conservative Party to make it an ELECTION ISSUE.
QUEEN’S PARK is the site of the Ontario Legislative Building, which houses the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, and the phrase QUEEN’S PARK is regularly used as a metonym for the Government of Ontario.
