Spring has sprung, but so have the dandelions. And while some people may be thinking about ways to combat those pesky weeds, the City of St. John’s is encouraging residents to avoid the use of pesticides on lawns and gardens. The city has not imposed an official pesticide ban just yet, but it’s hoping to lead by example, and already maintains sports fields and public open spaces without the use of pesticides.
The city says it has taken the measure to protect the health of its citizens, especially small children.
