Pincourt residents over 50-years-old with a green thumb and nowhere to use it have until April 9 to apply for a site in the town’s community gardens.
“The gardens are a wonderful place to socialize … and provide a venue to exercise, a place of leisure and an activity that offers a way to grow and eat fresh vegetables …,” Danielle Carbonneau, communications officer for the town, said in a prepared statement.
Priority is given to residents in low and medium income housing and people living in apartments or condos.
The gardens are located near the Ottawa river on Duhamel St. near 5th Ave.
Lots are limited.
There is a $5 cost for registration but compost and gardening tools are furnished. Pesticide use is not officially banned but discouraged.
To register or for more information call Lise Charlebois 514-453-5009 or Joanne Déry at 514-453-1386 before April 9.
