Nitro City Council met Tuesday evening to discuss the status of the Monsanto lawsuit and the proposed acquisition of the property at the corner of First Avenue and 22nd Street.
Lisa Circle, a representative for the Nitro Class Action Settlement Administrators LLC, spoke to council and the residents in attendance about the property cleanup and medical monitoring programs that are now available. Circle shared that a mass-mailing was sent out over two years ago was merely a pre-registration, not a completed questionnaire.
“It doesn’t mean you completed the questionnaire, it just lines you up to get the information on these programs,” Circle said.
Circle shared the Nitro Class Action Settlement Administrators LLC office is located at 2303 First Ave. in Nitro. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
“We want people to know that we are making ourselves available for them,” she said. “We are looking for folks who worked here, went to school here, or resided here from three to 30 years.”
4,500 homes have been targeted for these programs. Foth, a Wisconsin-based environmental contracting company, will be responsible for the cleaning. There will be medical monitoring and property cleanup provided.
