The King of Activists "Warren Bell" is scaring everyone again.
An Edmonton Lawn Pesticide Ban and Warren Bell is talking about Gasoline, Lindane and DDT.
The Canadian Cancer Society does not only want to ban Lawn Pesticides, they want to ban every product available for unmeasurable benefits. These are Canadian Health Canada Approved – SAFE TO USE – Registered Products.
The Cancer Society is funded by the Canadian Government to Prevent Cancer.
If you don't know how to Prevent Cancer, as in the case with the Canadian Cancer Society – you take everything away from people until Cancer is prevented. Seems logical to some.
The same logical ones that are required to show that the Funding they receive is being used to prevent cancer and line their own personal pocket books with Free Cars, Free Life Insurance Policies, Free Real Estate, Free Jewellery, Free Trips, Free Mutual Funds.
Before any pesticide can be sold in Canada it must undergo a rigorous scientific review and risk assessment by Health Canada.
Through this process pesticides receive a greater breadth of scrutiny than any other regulated product to ensure they will not harm the health or environment of current or future generations. Only those products that meet Health Canada’s strict health and safety standards are registered for sale and use.
The Canadian Cancer Soceity also discredits Health Canada and the work of the PMRA.
We need to shut down the Canadian Cancer Society.
They ignore all relavent health and environmental facts (documented facts) about these proucts and continue to scare the public into submission.
Warren Bell should be soliciting the Federal Government (Health Canada) if he has proven safety or environmental concerns about these products.
He does not do this. He tries to scare municpal councillors with bogus lies, undocumented facts, and 1 discredited peer review study.
Gideon Forman is running around posting letters to editors that "children will die" if we don't act now.
We need to shut down the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment.

Pesticide links lurk all over
By Warren Bell, Edmonton Journal March 5, 2011 4:20 AM The current debate raging in Edmonton about restricting or not restricting pesticide use for cosmetic purposes is focused on short-term costs and convenience, not long-term health of humans and the ecosystem.
It is characteristic of debates about leaded gasoline 30 to 40 years ago, and like those discussions, fails to address in any meaningful way the current state of science with regard to pesticide effects on non-target species — including us humans.
New evidence surfaces nearly every week of unexpected harmful effects of pesticides on our bodies. How many people are aware, for example, of a study published by the Public Library of Science on Jan. 26 that showed a link between diabetes and some of the most commonly used pesticides, such as Lindane (used to control head lice on children), and the granddaddy of them all, DDT?
No one even looked to see if such a connection existed until now, because most research on pesticides was carried out by pesticide manufacturers.
It is time for adults to look more closely at the legacy they are leaving for their children and grandchildren. Restricting pesticide use is a good way to begin heading in the right direction.
