The Rogue Group Sierra Club is hosting a day-long informational event Saturday, Oct. 16 in Ashland.
The event, dubbed Ecofest, is set from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pioneer Hall/Ashland Community Center, 59 Winbury Way, Ashland. It’s free to Sierra Club members and $15 for others, including breakfast and lunch from Greenleaf Restaurant.
Presentations include:
— Bob Hunter, a staff member at WaterWatch and a Rogue Group member, who will discuss the battle to remove both Savage Rapids and Gold Ray dams on the Rogue River.
— Laurel Sutherlin from KS Wild, who will discuss the proposed Siskiyou Crest National Monument.
— Al Collinet, who will give a brief slideshow on the Outings Program, which includes day hikes and overnights.
— Julie Norman, who will talk about the group’s effort to make the Ashland parks pesticide-free.
— Gabe Howe, who will talk about a trail-clearing effort after the 2002 Biscuit Fire in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness.
