Turf management training to be held An organic turf management training session will be conducted for area school district leaders Friday in New London and Wednesday in Pomfret. It comes after a July 1 ban on pesticide use on fields at elementary schools and day care centers. Grassroots Environmental Education, a New York-based nonprofit, will conduct the training. Registration is free for one person from each school or school district in the state, and additional personnel may attend at $185 each.
