We knew that the World Health Organization ( WHO ) would finally get in on the Zika Virus Crisis, and now Dr Margaret Chan, the United Nations’ health organization’s Director-General, has ruled Zika Virus is A GLOBAL PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY.
But Dr Margaret Chan did not say how to effectively fight against the Zika Virus.
I have an idea ― use DDT Insecticide against insect-borne diseases like Zika Virus !
Zika Virus is a VIRAL INFECTION, which is rarely a significant illness for anyone UNLESS THEY ARE PREGNANT.
Among pregnant women, there are some data suggesting an increased risk of DELIVERING A BABY with a SEVERE NEURO-DEVELOPMENTAL ANOMALY known as MICROCEPHALY.
The Zika Virus is TRANSMITTED BY THE BITE of the Yellow Fever Mosquito, Aedes aegypti, a mosquito species that is commonly found in the warm regions of South and Central America.
The Yellow Fever Mosquito also TRANSMITS OTHER TROPICAL DISEASES, such as the far more common DENGUE AND CHIKUNGUNYA VIRUSES.
In the past two centuries, the Yellow Fever Mosquito was also an important vector for YELLOW FEVER, which was eradicated by using spraying insecticides like DDT Insecticide, improved sanitation, and strict control of stagnant water breeding grounds ( most notably during the construction of the Panama Canal ).
One major impediment to combating the Zika Virus is the lack of reliable data pertaining to its extent ― no one knows how many people are infected, how many babies have been born with MICROSCOPICALLY, nor what the precise ( or even approximate ) risk is for the outcome among pregnant women who are infected.
Another barrier to halting or impeding the spread of the Zika Virus is nothing new ― the onerous environmental obstacles which have been put in place since the mosquito population was decimated in the time of DDT Insecticide.
Following the publication of the NOTORIOUS BOOK Silent Spring by Rachel Carson in 1962, and the subsequent emergence of Environmental Terrorism, DDT Insecticide was RECKLESSLY AND ARBITRARILY PROHIBITED in America in 1972.
DDT remains a pariah chemical despite its safety and effectiveness against many insect-borne diseases like malaria and possibly even Zika Virus.

DDT is the most effective and affordable chemical we have to control malaria and other diseases. The United Nations ( UN ) is misleading the public by claiming that malaria and other diseases can be controlled without insecticides, notably DDT. The United Nations ( UN ) is committing scientific fraud by deliberately and incorrectly interpreting data on malaria control using non-insecticide methods. DDT is still a critical weapon in the battle against malaria and possibly other insect-borne diseases like Zika Virus. For over seventy years, DDT has been a vital insecticide in the battle against disease. Yet it is vilified for largely illegitimate concerns about its impact on the environment and human health. Through a mix of environmental fervor, self-interest, and disregard for evidence-based policy, the United Nations ( UN ) is misleading the public about DDT ― mistakenly claiming it is not needed and can be eliminated globally by 2020. Such claims MUST BE WITHDRAWN, and the aggressive timeline for the elimination of DDT must be SHELVED. Furthermore, the World Health Organization ( WHO ) must prioritize the needs of malarial and Zika countries ahead of the political agenda of UN agencies and set a positive agenda for the use of DDT and the development of much-needed new public-health insecticides. Any campaign against DDT means it is used far less than is efficient or desired against insect-borne diseases like Zika Virus.
In the absence of DDT Insecticide, global urbanization progressed, and mosquitoes were managed with improved sanitation, removal of standing water; however, OTHER LESS EFFECTIVE INSECTICIDES FAILED TO DO THE JOB.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION ― DDT is the MOST EFFECTIVE and MOST AFFORDABLE chemical we have to control malaria. Claims of malaria control without DDT are INCORRECT and fundamentally MIS-LEADING !
As the mosquitoes spread, they carried their contagions from the cities to the towns and farms.
Yellow Fever Mosquito is a particularly nasty bug, since it prefers to live among crowds and BITES DURING THE DAY-TIME, making BED-NET PROTECTION OF LITTLE USE.
However, BED-NET PROTECTION has been effective against the Malarial Mosquito, which BITES DURING THE NIGHT.
Insect repellents and long-sleeved garments MAY be of SOME benefit against Yellow Fever Mosquito.
There is NO VACCINE for Zika Virus, and it will take at least a decade to find one.
Right now, it seems HIGHLY LIKELY that the Yellow Fever Mosquito, and Zika Virus, WILL GAIN FOOT-HOLDS IN AMERICA, as did the West Nile Virus, although the magnitude has yet be determined.
Far worse, Brazil is hosting the summer Olympics in a few months, and it is UNLIKELY that it will be able to do an effective job in controlling Zika Virus.
Perhaps there is one legitimate solution ― DDT Insecticide.
While it is not perfect ( SOME resistance to the chemical MAY have emerged in the past ), it may represent THE BEST CHANCE to hold Zika Virus in check.
