Manufacturers of household cleaners not required to disclose all their ingredients on the label

Do you know what’s in your household cleaners? Currently in Canada, there is no legal requirement for manufacturers to disclose all ingredients and hazards in household cleaning products. Senior Environment Co-ordinator for the City of Oshawa, Suzanne Elston says these chemicals can be associated with cancer, asthma as well as reproductive problems and respiratory problems. According to the David Suzuki foundation, only 42 per cent of products contained a complete ingredient list on their packaging. Elston says there are two green friendly products that make household cleaners, ‘Eco-Logo’ and ‘Green Seal’.
