The Town of Hudson has a long-standing passion, and reputation, for being green. Hudson became famous for being the first municipality, in North America, to ban pesticides in 1991. In 2001, the supreme court of Canada voted 9-0 for the town in support of banning the use of pesticides. This initiative spurred many other municipalities to follow suit. There is no doubt that Hudson is still striving to be green. Recently, the town hired an Environmental Agent to enforce the tree and pesticide by-law. The Environmental Agent is also mandated to develop new programs to encourage sustainable development and increase awareness about environmental programs offered to Hudson residents and issues concerning our environment.
