A burst of town pride gave birth to LOWELL PARK when members of the Lowell Civic Association volunteered their time to clear land for this purpose.

The effort to keep Lowell Neighborhood Park as pesticide-free CAME TO AN END in May 2012 when the city BEGAN SPRAYING PARTS OF THE PARK ONCE AGAIN.

The Lowell Civic Association maintained the entire 10-acre park pesticide-free since 2010 under a MISGUIDED EFFORT led by association vice-chair Megan Dunn.

The neighborhood agreed to let the parks department spray in the park.

The application of pest control products was resumed because NOT ENOUGH VOLUNTEERS COULD KEEP THE PARK UP TO CITY STANDARDS.

It was TOO MUCH WORK FOR VOLUNTEERS to maintain the whole park, Dunn said.

Without the use of conventional pest control products, city of Everett was forced to resort to the BACK-BREAKING & AGONIZING JOB OF WEED PULLING BY HAND !

RESIDENT WEED-PICKING VOLUNTEERS, most of whom are elderly & unemployed, were forced to work as back-breaking cotton-pickers.
