Anti-Pesticide BANS
Remain In Place,
but NOT Because of
Any REAL Risks
FEBRUARY 16TH, 2012
LETTER TO THE EDITOR ― MEDIA RELEASE
RESPONSE TO ALLAN S. TAYLOR BY SIMON E. TAYLOR
THE LEADER-POST
REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN
Spring approaches, and, again, Anti-Pesticide Activist Allan Taylor in Regina trots out his NONSENSE.
In 2008, Health Canada assessed what’s used on lawns and concluded …
« Products containing 2,4-D DO NOT POSE UNACCEPTABLE RISKS to human health or the environment. »
Quebec was the first province to assert products containing 2,4-D might be carcinogenic.
On that basis, municipalities banned its use on lawns.
Others followed, but stopped short of declaring it a carcinogen.
Activists INVENTED other reasons, but the JUNK SCIENCE CANCER SCARE always lurked in the background.
Laws against lawn products therefore remain, but NOT BECAUSE THEY POSE REAL RISK.
Under a recent North America Free Trade Agreement ( NAFTA ) with Dow ( manufacturer of 2,4-D ) …
« The Government of Quebec agrees that products containing 2,4-D DO NOT POSE AN UNACCEPTABLE RISK to human health or the environment. »
This is consistent with Health Canada and regulators in the U.S. and Europe.
What this means in Canada is that WE HAVE BANS IN EXISTENCE BASED ON JUNK SCIENCE SCARES PERPETRATED BY ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVISTS.
No pest control product can be sold or used until Health Canada’s scientists have determined whether the product meets health and safety requirements.
Non-Expert Anti-Pesticide Activists [ like Allan S. Taylor ] are the LEAST QUALIFIED TO PROVIDE ADVICE concerning pest-control products.
Allan Taylor has NO expertise or recognized training in matters concerning turfgrass management and pest control products.
Health Canada has that essential expertise.
Conventional pest control products are SCIENTIFICALLY SAFE.
I leave these decisions to Health Canada.
Allan Taylor WILL CONTINUE TO HARASS OFFICIALS UNTIL HE HEARS THE ANSWER HE WANTS.
