Kids, chemicals don’t mix
Kids and chemicals just don't mix. Toxic weed control chemicals are linked to cancer, birth defects, asthma, attention deficit disorder and other serious health problems. Kids are more vulnerable to these health effects than adults because their organs are developing.
We can protect kids and our community's health by supporting the changes to weed control at our schools and parks that have been proposed by Pesticide Action Network of Blaine County. This policy emphasizes safe, effective and natural methods of pest and weed control over chemicals. I support this policy because it will ensure that the city parks are always a local example of safer weed control for our community.
Bellevue residents can attend the Bellevue City Council's meeting on June 9 to let the council know you support safer weed control in city parks. Hailey, Sun Valley and the county will also be considering this proposal. Let's keep kids safe in the places they play. For more information, check out Pesticide Action Network of Blaine County's website at: www.pesticideactionnetwork.net.
