Sat, 02 Apr 2011 – 04:25:01UNI | Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court directed the state government to file objections, if any, by April 5 on a petition filed by Endosulphan Manufacturers’ Association, challenging the ban on the fertilizer.
Justice B S Patil directed the government to file its objections and adjourned the case to April 6.
Endosulphan Manufacturers’ and Formulators’ Welfare Association (EMFWA) had filed the plea last month seeking a direction to the state government not to ban production and sale of endosulphan in the state and also not to make any ‘ad-hoc’ statement that might harm the interests of the manufacturers and traders.
On February 17, 2011, the state government had imposed a 60-day ban on sale, manufacture and use of endosulphan, and urged the Centre to ban the pesticide permanently.
