Is There Any Connection Between Neonicotinoid Insecticides and Long-Term Honey Bee Losses In Canada ?
There is NO EVIDENCE TO SUGGEST A LINK between neonicotinoid insecticides and long-term honey bee losses in Canada.
There is NO GEOGRAPHICAL CORRELATION between long-term bee losses and insecticide use.
Although some neonicotinoid insecticides are toxic to bees upon direct con-tact ( as are many insecticides ), they are used in a way that MINIMIZES ANY DIRECT EXPOSURE TO BEES.
Under normal field use, THE EXPOSURE TO BEES IS AT VERY LOW LEVELS, FAR TOO LOW TO CAUSE HARMFUL EFFECTS.
Independent, long-term, controlled field tests have repeatedly shown NO EFFECTS on bee mortality, weight gain, worker longevity, brood development, honey yield, and over-winter survival relative to bees in areas where treated seed was not used.
Many of these studies have been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.

Neonicotinoid Insecticides, like Imidacloprid, are widely used for the control of insect pests in lawns, gardens, ornamental plants, and agriculture.
In fact, there is OVERWHELMING SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE demonstrating that Neonicotinoid Insecticides are NOT A SIGNIFICANT FACTOR IN OVERALL BEE HEALTH DECLINE.

According to Alberta Bee-Keepers Commission, VARROA MITES ARE THE CAUSE OF ROUGHLY HALF OF BEE DEATHS EVERY WINTER.
If VARROA MITES infest even one per cent of bees, within two years, THE ENTIRE HIVE COULD BE LOST.
Alberta Bee-Keepers Commission NEVER MENTIONED ANYTHING about Neonicotinoid Insecticides.
Bee-Keepers MUST GET THEIR VARROA MITE PROBLEMS UNDER CONTROL to rein in the collapse of bee colonies.
Bee-Keepers appear to be UNABLE OR UNWILLING to get their pest problems, such as VARROA MITES, under control to rein in the collapse of their bee colonies.
The weight of the scientific evidence clearly shows that Neonicotinoid Insecticides DO NOT AFFECT BEES.

Recently, in Alberta, Bee-Keepers WERE FINED FOR USING THESE UNREGISTERED PEST CONTROL PRODUCTS TO COMBAT MITE INFESTATIONS, resulting HEFTY FINES from Health Canada.
Bee-Keepers VIOLATE FEDERAL LAW by using products like AMITRAZ, which is KNOWN TO CAUSE CANCER, and is KNOWN TO KILL PEOPLE.
In 2006, the United States Environmental Protection Agency ( USEPA ) classified AMITRAZ as a group C, A POSSIBLE HUMAN CARCINOGEN.
Furthermore, exposure to greater amounts of AMITRAZ can LEAD TO DEATH DUE TO RESPIRATORY FAILURE, mainly after oral uptake or inhalation.
In Turkey during 1989, 41 cases of DEADLY AMITRAZ INTOXICATIONS were detected.
Other frequently occurring symptoms AFTER MASSIVE AMITRAZ INTOXICATION are BRADYCARDIA, DEPRESSION, HYPERGLYCEMIA, HYPOTHERMIA, LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS, MIOSIS, RESPIRATORY DEPRESSION, and VOMITING.
In other words, Bee-Keepers are ILLEGALLY USING products that are known to CAUSE CANCER, and are known to KILL PEOPLE.
It has been concluded that Bee-Keepers are producing potentially DANGEROUS HONEY.

Bee-Keepers CONVENIENTLY OVERLOOK the fact that INSECTICIDE-COATED CORN SEED used by the agriculture industry is INACCESSIBLE TO BEES.
One of the uses of Neonicotinoid Insecticides is as A COATING APPLIED TO CORN SEEDS to protect the plants, as well as bees.
The seed itself takes care of its own pest management, not only as a seed but as it grows and matures into a stalk of corn with cobs.
It is a SAFE AND TARGETED WAY to use the insecticide WITHOUT HARMING POLLINATORS.
The Neonicotinoid Insecticide is coated on the seed, and the seed is buried in the soil, so it is INACCESSIBLE TO THE BEES.

Bee-Keepers FAIL TO ADMIT that there are only A SMALL NUMBER of reports of bee losses.
The information evaluated to date suggests that coated corn seeds contributed to a SMALL NUMBER of bee losses.
Between April and June 2012, Health Canada received a SMALL NUMBER OF REPORTS OF BEE LOSSES from across Southern Ontario, involving a mere 40 Bee-Keepers, as well as 1 report from Quebec.
At present, there are 2,900 Bee-Keepers in Ontario, therefore, the affected Bee-Keepers REPRESENT LESS THAN 1.5 PER CENT OF ALL Bee-Keepers in Ontario.
Ontario’s SMALL NUMBER of bee die-offs in 2012 raised the UNJUSTIFIED QUESTIONS of how bees were coming into contact with Neonicotinoid Insecticides.
Bee Colony Collapse Disorder is THE FAULT OF Bee-Keepers and THEIR MIS-MANAGEMENT PRACTICES.
Bee-Keepers ARE RESPONSIBLE, and NOT Neonicotinoid Insecticides.

EU Nations Do Not Want Prohibition
The MAJORITY of European Union ( EU ) nations DO NOT WANT Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION.
EU Government Officials ARE THINKING TWICE BEFORE BANNING PESTICIDES.
European Union nations have been UNABLE TO REACH AGREEMENT on proposals to ARBITRARILY PROHIBIT the use of three Neonicotinoid Insecticides that have been linked to the decline of bees.
A decline in bee population was linked by FALSE ALLEGATIONS against Neonicotinoid Insecticides.
The European Commission had called for a two-year EU-wide MORATORIUM ( a.k.a. Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION ), but a MAJORITY of nations OPPOSED THE PLANS.
The European Commission, the executive body of the European Union, is clearly INFESTED with Anti-Pesticide Lunatics, and has DEMANDED TO ARBITRARILY AND RECKLESSLY PROHIBIT against the use of Neonicotinoid Insecticides.
European Union nations were UNABLE TO REACH A QUALIFIED MAJORITY in order for PROHIBITION to be adopted.
The EU MAJORITY DECISION AGAINST PROHIBITION is a clear recognition that THERE IS NO CONVINCING ARGUMENT against the continued use of Neonicotinoid Insecticides.
Nevertheless, in April 2013, the European Commission announced the MORATORIUM ( a.k.a. PROHIBITION ) against the use of three Neonicotinoid Insecticides, including thiamethoxam which is manfactured by Syngenta.
The PROHIBITION starts on December 1st 2013.
Overseas in Canada, the Pest Management Regulatory Agency of Health Canada DISAGREES WITH THE EU DECISION, and DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT PROHIBITION IS NECESSARY.
Canada WILL NOT FOLLOW THE LEAD OF EUROPE by proposing an UNFOUNDED KNEE-JERK PROHIBITION against Neonicotinoid Insecticides.
Consequently, EU’s PROHIBITION has put it at a DISADVANTAGE since it has now become the world’s largest food importer.
In early August 2013, the manufacturer Syngenta announced that it was MOUNTING A LEGAL CHALLENGE against the European Commission’s decision to introduce a two-year PROHIBITON against the use of thiamethoxam on bee-attracting crops.
In mid-August, another manufacturer, Bayer Crop Science, FILED A SIMILAR LEGAL CHALLENGE with the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg.
In a statement, Syngenta’s chief operating officer, John Atkin, said that the European Commission had WRONGLY LINKED its product with bee deaths and « INCORRECTLY APPLIED THE PRECAUTIONARY PRINCIPLE ».
Syngenta called for all those with a stake in good pollinator health to come together to tackle honey bee diseases, viruses and loss of habitat, which are the real reasons behind Bee Colony Collapse Disorder, rather than Neonicotinoid Insecticides.

Bee-Keeper Trade Associations in Quebec and Ontario now OPERATE AS ANTI-PESTICIDE AND ENVIRONMENTAL-TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS, under the direction of Sierra Club, Environmental Defence, and others.
These RENEGADE Trade Associations include Ontario Bee-Keepers’ Association and Fédération des Apiculteurs du Quebec.
The actions of these Trade Associations are DESPICABLE and DESTRUCTIVE and RECKLESS and SUBVERSIVE by DEMANDING ARBITRARY PROHIBITION against Neonicotinoid insecticides, which are IMPORTANT AND IRREPLACEABLE TOOLS for the control of damaging insects in the Agriculture and Golf Industries.
The RENEGADE Bee-Keeper Trade Associations DEMAND PROHIBITION UNDER THE FALSE PRETEXT that bees are somehow affected by Neonicotinoid Insecticides.
In fact, this effect, which is called Bee Colony Collapse Disorder, is NOT caused by Neonicotinoid Insecticides since THE WEIGHT OF THE SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE CLEARLY SHOWS THAT THESE INSECTICIDES DO NOT AFFECT BEES.
Moreover, Canadian Honey Council, which is the NATIONAL trade association that oversees these trade associations, DOES NOT SUPPORT PROHIBITION.
If they are successful, the CONSEQUENCES OF PROHIBITION WILL BE CATASTROPHIC for the Agriculture Industry and the Golf Industry. In fact, any prohibition against Neonicotinoid Insecticides is not necessary.
Overall, there is NO EVIDENCE to suggest a link between insecticides and BEE COLONY COLLAPSE DISORDER. Overall, Neonicotinoid Insecticides DO NOT HARM BEES.
It is far more likely that THE BEE-KEEPERS THEMSELVES ARE HARMING BEES through their own MIS-MANAGEMENT PRACTICES, and NOT Neonicotinoid Insecticides.
When used properly by the Agriculture Industry, with Best Management Practices, Neonicotinoid Insecticides CAUSE NO HARM, and DO NOT HURT BEES.
