Kingston’s outdoor sports fields are in high demand. The Sports Field Allocation Policy helps the City address this demand and provide a consistent approach to equitably allocating these resources. The City’s goal is to promote safe and playable sports fields and encourage participation in outdoor sports to the overall benefit of the community.

Soccer Field Upgrades
The City of Kingston Council approved $1.5M in 2009 to upgrade existing soccer fields. The work has begun at a number of the fields and will continue through this fall and into the 2011 season.
The planned upgrades are necessary to improve the condition of the fields and provide a superior play surface through entire seasons of play. The improvements to grading, drainage and soil conditioning, in particular, will assist in providing consistent serviceability under varied usage and weather conditions.
In addition, there are exciting new projects scheduled for completion in 2012; two new international size fields and a future field house in John Machin Park, the new track and field complex with artificial turf at the INVISTA Centre and the conversion of a natural to artificial turf field at Caton’s field. These projects will occur predominantly in 2011 and will be available for play in 2012.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause to your programming and schedules.
