LETTER TO THE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON COSMETIC PESTICIDES
RESPONSE TO ANTI–PESTICIDE ACTIVISTS ( LONG VERSION )
MEDIA RELEASE
PROVINCE BRITISH COLUMBIA
The Government of British Columbia is inviting the public to participate in a consultation by completing an on–line questionnaire or by sending a written submission concerning a proposal to PROHIBIT pest control products in the Urban Landscape.
This is organized by the government’s « Special Committee on Cosmetic Pesticides », which was appointed by the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.
Predictably, Anti–Pesticide Activists are already FLOODING the government with THOUSANDS, YES THOUSANDS, OF COMMENTS that can only be described as LIES and MIS–INFORMATION.
They are CARPET–BOMBING and TERRORIZING the government.
The issue here is CREDIBILITY of the source of information, since the VAST MAJORITY of the COMMENTS are ORCHESTRATED, through a coast–to–coast CAMPAIGN, using NON–EXPERT VOLUNTEERS with Canadian Cancer Society.
This CAMPAIGN gives an unsuspecting public the FALSE and FRAUDULENT impression that the Anti–Pesticide Movement has considerable size and power, when in fact, IT DOES NOT.
Anti–Pesticide Activists have a HUGE VESTED INTEREST IN PERPETUATING IMAGINARY DANGERS about pest control products used in the Urban Landscape.
Doing this attracts HUGE PROFIT and BENEFITS, in the form of DONATIONS, GOVERNMENT GRANTS, and CELEBRITY.
Anti–Pesticide Activists also have a HUGE VESTED INTEREST IN PERPETUATING IMAGINARY DANGERS about pest control products BECAUSE THEY ARE PAID TO DO SO.
Incredibly, NOT A SINGLE Anti–Pesticide Activist has ANY recognized expertise, training or back–ground in matters concerning pest control products !
Nonetheless, they CREATE MALICIOUS ILLUSION by PERPETUATING MYTHS about pest control products, and the public believes it is REALITY !
POSITIVE EFFECTS ?!?!
MYTH ― PROHIBITION in British Columbia would somehow have a positive effect on health, environment, and economy ― WRONG !
It is truly amazing how Anti–Pesticide Activists attempt to DISTRACT everyone from the CARNAGE that has been wrought by PROHIBITION on the Professional Lawn Care Industry.
Anti–Pesticide Activists have DESTROYED the Modern Professional Lawn Care Industry.
Anti–Pesticide CONSPIRACIES led to NEEDLESS, SENSELESS, and MALICIOUS PROHIBITION of pest control products used in the Urban Landscape.
Through the IMPOSITION of PROHIBITION, the DEPRAVED INDIFFERENCE Anti–Pesticide Activists has led to LOSS OF REVENUES, BUSINESS FAILURES, BANKRUPTCY, and UNEMPLOYMENT, inflicting TERROR, DESPAIR, and DESTITUTION on thousands of hapless victims throughout the Green Space Industry.
The PROHIBITION of pest control products led to LOSS OF REVENUES, BUSINESS FAILURES, BANKRUPTCY, and UNEMPLOYMENT, inflicting TERROR, DESPAIR, and DESTITUTION on THOUSANDS of hapless victims throughout the Professional Lawn Care Industry.
Anti–Pesticide Activists give the FALSE and FRAUDULENT impression that the public is being exposed to cancer–causing agents whenever a pest control product is used in the Urban Landscape.
This is WRONG !
In fact, scientific research PROVES that pest control products CAUSE NO HARM and can be USED SAFELY.
Anti–Pesticide Activists SPREAD FEAR and ANXIETY because of theirs FABRICATIONS, INNUENDOS, and INTERNET RUMOURS concerning pest control products.
In fact, the principal mandate of Anti–Pesticide Activists and their organizations is to attract MORE MEMBERS, MORE DONATIONS, and MORE PROFIT by SCAMMING THE PUBLIC with the CONCOCTION of FRAUDULENT LIES and UNPROVEN threat of pest control products.
Ultimately, the legacy of Anti–Pesticide PROHIBITION is …
● ANXIOUS children and adults ALARMED AND ENRAGED because of FABRICATION, INNUENDO, and INTERNET RUMOUR
● DANGEROUS playgrounds maintained like GARBAGE DUMPS
● DARK AGE OF ANTI–PESTICIDE TERRORISM where sound science is trumped by JUNK SCIENCE and UNVERIFIABLE SECRET EVIDENCE
● DESTROYED economies because of BUSINESS FAILURES and BANKRUPTCIES
● LOST JOBS and HARDSHIP for people because of DISINTEGRATING customers and PLUMMETING revenues
● SQUANDERED GRANT MONEY on BOGUS companies
● WASTED MONEY on BOGUS Pesticide–Free Maintenance
● WEAKENED communities with NO OPPORTUNITIES FOR BUSINESS GROWTH.
DANGER TO CHILDREN ?!?!
MYTH ― PROHIBITION will somehow eliminate a danger to children ― WRONG !
Non–Expert Anti–Pesticide Activists are GREATLY MISTAKEN by ALLEGING that, as a result of the PROHIBITION of pest control products, fewer children will be exposed to some IMAGINARY DANGER.
What DANGER !?!?
Experts have NO problem with their children playing on a dried treated surface after a pest control application.
Pest control products are applied at VERY LOW DOSES, and DO NOT PRESENT A CONCERN to people … even to CHILDREN.
Moreover, after a pest control product DRIES ON THE LEAF, it is difficult, if not impossible, to dislodge these residues off the leaf surface.
Anti–Pesticide Activists SCAM and DECEIVE the public by blurting out HOLLOW and DESPICABLY–ALARMIST expressions like « children at risk » and « serious illness » and « cancer » and « birth defects » !
Anti–Pesticide Activists OUTRAGEOUSLY COMPARE the use of pest control products with Russian Roulette, and suggest we should protect the lives of those we love.
ALLEGATIONS about the IMAGINARY DANGER TO CHILDREN are TOTALLY FALSE, and are UNTRUE MIS–REPRESENTATIONS designed to ALARM AND ENRAGE the public for MONEY AND PROFIT given to Anti–Pesticide Organizations.
Pest control products DO NOT HARM CHILDREN !
Anti–Pesticide Activists are DESPICABLE in their use of CHILDREN as WEAPONS OF COERCION and ULTIMATE TERROR in order to promote PROHIBITION.
The ASSESSMENT of pest control products by Heath Canada takes into consideration sensitive groups, such as CHILDREN, as well as INFANTS and PREGNANT WOMEN.
CHILDREN’s physiology, behaviours and habits WHILE PLAYING ON TREATED GRASS are CONSIDERED when determining the safety of pest control products.
EXTRA SAFETY FACTORS are applied by Health Canada to protect CHILDREN, as well as INFANTS and PREGNANT WOMEN.
Pest control products cause NO HARM TO CHILDREN.
Pest control products cause NO HARM, including chronic effects such as CANCER.
In fact, PROHIBITING pest control products under the PRETEXT of protecting children’s health is actually HARMFUL TO CHILDREN.
In fact, children are AT RISK WITH PROHIBITION.
Pesticide–Free Maintenance creates GARBAGE DUMPS and DANGEROUS PLAYING SURFACES ― ESPECIALLY FOR CHILDREN !
PROHIBITING pest control products under the PRETEXT of somehow protecting children’s health is actually HARMFUL TO CHILDREN.
There are NO valid reports of pest control product problems with children.
Furthermore, Anti–Pesticide Activists are willing to COMPROMISE ON THE SAFETY OF CHILDREN who need a CUSHION OF HIGH–QUALITY TURFGRASS when playing and running and falling.
Without conventional pest control products, playing surfaces become thin, and yellow, and OVER–RUN WITH WEEDS, INFESTED WITH INSECTS, and DISMALLY DESTROYED.
Turfgrass pests DISRUPT THE UNIFORMITY OF THE TURF and MAY AFFECT THE SAFETY and PLAYABILITY of the playing surface for footing, ball bounce, etc …
Without pest control products, playing surfaces become GARBAGE DUMPS, and are a DANGER for children to play on.
Anti–Pesticide Activists COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT CHILDREN who use these DANGEROUS PLAYING SURFACES.
WELL–MAINTAINED, THICKER, GREENER, and PEST–FREE outdoor playing surfaces, like home lawns, public green spaces, and sports fields, have MANY PRACTICAL BENEFITS.
WELL–MAINTAINED turfgrass playing surfaces act as a NATURAL CUSHION.
WELL–MAINTAINED turfgrass is also an EFFECTIVE SPONGE for rain water.
A playing surface OVER–RUN WITH WEEDS and INFESTED WITH INSECTS provides NONE of these benefits.
They are OVER–RUN by Dandelions and other weed pests, and are DESTROYED by INFESTING insect pests like European Chafer.
Pesticide–Free Maintenance represents a HAZARD TO ANYONE USING PLAYING SURFACES, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN.
When it rains, pest–infested playing surfaces become SLIPPERY MUD BOGS.
When dry, pest–infested playing surfaces become AS HARD AS CONCRETE.
Pesticide–Free Maintenance actually HURTS kids.
Falling on SLIPPERY MUD or BAKED SOIL is the direct cause of BROKEN BONES, TWISTED ANKLES, and SKINNED KNEES.
Any trend favouring Pesticide–Free Maintenance will lead to GARBAGE DUMPS, DANGEROUS PLAYING SURFACES, and HURT CHILDREN.
TURFGRASS QUALITY and SAFETY are generally IMPROVED when pest control products are used judiciously to control pests that can’t be controlled in other ways.
Pest control products ENHANCE the Urban Landscape, and makes playing surfaces SAFE FOR CHILDREN.
MEDICAL PROBLEMS ?!?!
MYTH ― Without PROHIBITION, there will be serious medical problems ― WRONG !
We say … SHOW US THE BODIES … Nobis Corpus ( Latin ).
Anti–Pesticide Activists are UNABLE To Provide Bodies, Bodies, Bodies.
The public must be warned that the issues concerning pest control products are CONTROVERSIAL only because they were CONCOCTED by Anti–Pesticide Activists.
Anti–Pesticide Activists ALLEGE that so–called « inconvenient studies » or « secret evidence » are somehow withheld by manufacturers from ALL the regulatory agencies in the world.
Unfortunately, Anti–Pesticide Activists are UNABLE to provide bodies, bodies, bodies.
Bodies of REAL evidence.
Bodies of REAL evidence, and NOT JUNK SCIENCE REPORTS that have been DOMESTICALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY REFUTED AND DISCREDITED.
Bodies of REAL evidence, and NOT JUNK SCIENCE REPORTS that have NEVER been made available for independent review.
Bodies of REAL evidence, and NOT JUNK SCIENCE REPORTS intended to DISCREDIT the work of REAL experts, such as Health Canada.
Bodies of REAL evidence, and NOT « secret evidence » or DEBUNKED REPORTS.
Bodies of REAL evidence, and NOT « secret evidence » from disgruntled former government officials who were terminated from employment and suddenly became anonymous « whistle–blowers » with UNVERIFIABLE stories.
More specifically, medical records, medical records, medical records.
More specifically, PROOF that studies are being somehow with–held from the ENTIRE WORLD.
Who are, or were, those people ALLEGEDLY harmed by pest control products ?
Where are the medical records ?
Where are the so–called « inconvenient studies » ?!?!
Make them available for public review.
We say … SHOW US THE BODIES.
Anti–Pesticide Activists say that there are so–called issues with pest control products.
Surely they can produce ONE medical record.
Anti–Pesticide Activists MUST STOP using « mythical growing bodies of research reports » that DO NOT EXIST.
Anti–Pesticide Activists MUST STOP using « secret evidence » and DEBUNKED REPORTS.
Anti–Pesticide Activists are MUST STOP using TOTALLY FALSE and UNTRUE MIS–REPRESENTATIONS designed to alarm and enrage the public and enhance their BUSINESS, CASH–FLOW, PROFIT, or CELEBRITY.
Unfortunately, Anti–Pesticide Activists are UNABLE to provide bodies, bodies, bodies.
We are living in the DARK AGE OF ANTI–PESTICIDE TERRORISM where science is trumped by FABRICATION, INNUENDO, and INTERNET RUMOUR.
ONTARIO COLLEGE OF FAMILY PHYSICIANS ?!?!
MYTH ― PROHIBITION is necessary because Ontario College of Family Physicians reported that pest control products are somehow associated various types of cancer ― WRONG !
« He uses statistics as a drunken man uses lamp–posts … for support rather than illumination. » ― Andrew Lang, Poet
Similarly, Ontario College of Family Physicians uses statistics as a drunken man uses lamp–posts … for support rather than illumination.
In 2004, Ontario College of Family Physicians ( OCFP ) CONCOCTED a Literature Review of pest control products.
Ontario College of Family Physicians is a DISCREDITED RADICAL Anti–Pesticide Organization.
The review was BOGUS, BIASED, DISGRACEFUL, FALSE, MISLEADING, and SUBVERSIVE.
The BOGUS–OCFP–Review is merely a deceptive Anti–Pesticide JUNK–SCIENCE DOCUMENT that simply is a CHERRY–PICKING of some of the most recklessly negative reports regarding pest control products.
The BOGUS–OCFP–Review has absolutely NO CREDIBILITY in the legitimate scientific community, and has been DISCREDITED, DEBUNKED, and REFUTED.
The BOGUS–OCFP–Review has absolutely NO CREDIBILITY since none of its authors and reviewers has ANY recognized expertise, training or background in matters concerning pest control products
Moreover, among the authors and reviewers of the OCFP–Review …
● there are doctors who were found guilty of professional mis–conduct over sexual activities
● doctors whose license was suspended
● doctors who deny having reviewed the document
Internationally, the BOGUS–OCFP–Review was DISCREDITED as …
● inadequately addressing the issues
● inconsistent
● over–interpreting studies
● superficial in its approach
● unclear
● weak quality
The BOGUS–OCFP–Review was INTERNATIONALLY DISCREDITED by THE ROYAL COMMISSION ON ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION.
The review was also REFUTED by Health Canada.
In light of the public interest in the BOGUS-OCFP-Review, Health Canada issued a media release on August 4th, 2004.
Health Canada’s respected Pest Management Regulatory Agency ( PMRA ) is the federal regulatory body responsible for the regulation of pesticides in Canada.
« As the OCFP report notes, some population groups, such as children and pregnant women, may be more susceptible to potential effects of pesticides.
This is why PMRA assessments include the application of EXTRA SAFETY FACTORS to ensure that the most sensitive sub-populations are protected.
For example, the PMRA PAYS SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE UNIQUE EXPOSURES AND PHYSIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF CHILDREN, ensuring that factors such as their unique behaviours, different diets and lower body weights are considered.
The OCFP report is a review of epidemiology studies selected from the public scientific literature.
There are many such studies published which suggest that there MAY OR MAY NOT be associations between adverse health effects and pesticide exposure.
As the report acknowledges, EPIDEMIOLOGY STUDIES ARE HARD TO INTERPRET because of BIASES AND CONFOUNDING FACTORS that make it very difficult to either establish or definitively rule out links between pesticide exposures and effects.
For example, other chemical and physical environment effects are usually encountered at the same time as pesticide exposures and biases in the exposures remembered by study participants may affect the result.
Without an actual exposure calculation, it is difficult to assess whether pesticides could have been responsible for an adverse health outcome.
When determining the acceptability of a pesticide, PMRA scientists CRITICALLY EXAMINE THE TOTALITY OF THE SCIENTIFIC DATABASE for pesticide active ingredients and end-use products, including the types of studies in the OCFP report.
When new studies in the public literature are released, the PMRA examines them to determine if further regulatory action is required on the pesticides mentioned in the study. »
JOURNAL OF PAEDIATRICS AND CHILD HEALTH ?!?!
MYTH ― PROHIBITION is necessary because an article in the Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health ( April, 2006 ) reported pest control products are somehow linked to health issues ― WRONG !
What Anti–Pesticide Activists do not say is …
The April 2006 article was published in the Journal Paediatrics & Child Health which is the journal of the Canadian Paediatric Society.
Canadian Paediatric Society REFUTED the April 2006 article.
It was NOT written by Canadian Paediatric Society, and does not reflect the opinion of Canadian Paediatric Society.
Canadian Paediatric Society does not have ANY position statements on the use of pest control products.
Canadian Paediatric Society has stated that it SHOULD NOT BE CITED with this article.
Canadian Paediatric Society has communicated this position to Anti–Pesticide Activists.
Moreover, NONE of the authors have ABSOLUTELY NO competent expertise, recognized training, or background, in matters concerning pest control products.
Their opinions were TOTALLY VALUELESS and UTTERLY WORTHLESS in matters concerning pest control products.
Moreover, the authors have NO affiliation with Canadian Paediatric Society.
Furthermore, the April 2006 article was an ASSESSMENT ( i.e. a judgement based upon Anti–Pesticide motivation ).
It was NOT the result of ANY scientific research.
Not surprisingly, the two primary authors of the April 2006 article were/are PERSONALLY ALLIED with Anti–Pesticide Organizations.
What Anti–Pesticide Activists do not say is …
The April 2006 article was far from being independent and unbiased.
It was the result of Anti–Pesticide JUNK SCIENCE.
Finally, the April 2006 focused ONLY on the herbicide 2,4–D.
It DID NOT focus on ALL pest control products used by the Professional Lawn Care Industry in the Urban Landscape.
BUSINESS GROWTH ?!?!
MYTH ― PROHIBITION is somehow an opportunity for business growth, and has allegedly been well received by Professional Lawn Care companies because of its supposed positive effects ― WRONG !
Because of Anti–Pesticide PROHIBITION, DAMAGES to the Professional Lawn Care Industry were EXTENSIVE because there were NO valid economical alternatives to replace the prohibited products.
Because of PROHIBITION, Professional Lawn Care businesses, which at one time provided a good living and some equity for eventual sale for retirement, became WORTHLESS !
Many multi–vehicle Professional Lawn Care businesses were FORCED TO DOWN–SIZE THEIR OPERATIONS to a single truck.
There was a GLUT OF USED–EQUIPMENT–FOR–SALE because of the DOWN–SIZING AND EXODUS of Professional Lawn Care businesses.
Because of Anti–Pesticide PROHIBITION, DOZENS OF BUSINESSES WERE FORCED TO EXIT FROM THE MARKET AND DISAPPEARS INTO TOTAL OBLIVION.
Professional Lawn Care businesses were simply ABANDONED ― no one was able to buy or sell a Professional Lawn Care business.
Because of Anti–Pesticide PROHIBITION, the owners, employees, and families de–pendent on Professional Lawn Care businesses faced TERROR, DESPAIR, and DESTITUTION.
There were NO OPPORTUNITIES FOR BUSINESS GROWTH.
In the Province of Ontario, the PROFESSIONAL LAWN CARE INDUSTRY LOST OVER 500,000,000 DOLLARS.
In Ontario, Professional Lawn Care businesses were forced to TERMINATE many or most of their employees ― UP TO 12,500 BECAME UNEMPLOYED.
Observers are expecting 780 BUSINESS FAILURES OR BANKRUPTCIES.
In Ontario, ONE–COMPANY–PER–WEEK DISAPPEARS INTO TOTAL OBLIVION.
The SAME fate awaits British Columbia.
WATER QUALITY ?!?!
MYTH ― PROHIBITION would somehow improve water quality, with the Province of Ontario used as an example ― WRONG !
Pest control products used in the Urban Landscape DO NOT enter our lakes and rivers through surface run–off and storm sewers
Non–Expert Anti–Pesticide Activists ALLEGE that the PROHIBITION of pest control products in the Urban Landscape will somehow lead to lower concentrations of herbicide in our stream water.
This is WRONG !
This allegation is FALSE, MISLEADING, and CONTRADICTS OVER TWENTY–FIVE YEARS OF RESEARCH.
Pest control products used in the Urban Landscape DO NOT enter our lakes and rivers through surface run–off and storm sewers.
Moreover, the PROHIBITION of pest control products in the Urban Landscape will NOT improve the water quality of our streams and rivers.
It is a MYTH to believe that ANY PROHIBITION protects the environment.
Non–Expert Anti–Pesticide Activists ALLEGE that PROHIBITION of pest control products in the Urban Landscape somehow leads to lower concentrations of herbicide in stream water.
The PROHIBITION of pest control products in the Urban Landscape does NOT, and WILL NOT, improve the water quality of our streams and rivers.
On the issue of the Province of Ontario, the 2009 PROHIBITION of pest control products DEFINITELY DID NOT improve water quality in streams and rivers.
For more than ten years, well BEFORE the 2009 PROHIBITION, there were CONSISTENTLY LOW LEVELS of pest control products in Ontario streams.
ALMOST UNDETECTABLE LEVELS of pest control products were found in Ontario streams EVEN BEFORE the 2009 PROHIBITION.
Both before and after the 2009 PROHIBITION, the presence of pest control products were measured in the PARTS PER TRILLION RANGE and WELL BELOW water quality guidelines.
In fact, previous studies have shown that, for more than ten years, there have been CONSISTENTLY LOW LEVELS of pest control products in Ontario streams.
The 2009 Ontario PROHIBITION did NOT protect the environment.
RESIDENT SUPPORT ?!?!
MYTH ― PROHIBITION is somehow supported by over 70 per cent of residents ― WRONG !
Since 2008, several Anti–Pesticide Organizations have commissioned several small Enviro–Polls across Canada.
These Enviro–Polls were ORCHESTRATED by Canadian Cancer Society and other known Anti–Pesticide–Organizations.
These Enviro–Polls were ORCHESTRATED by Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, Canadian Cancer Society, and other known Anti–Pesticide Organizations.
These Enviro–Polls were conducted with SMALL GROUPS of residents.
Enviro–Polls BOUGHT AND PAID FOR by Canadian Cancer Society and other Anti–Pesticide Organizations CANNOT possibly be considered as legitimate.
Not surprisingly, these Enviro–Polls were declared as BOGUS since they PREDICTABLY indicated that most people favoured a PROHIBITION of conventional pest control products ― BIG SURPRISE !
Canadian Cancer Society in particular has INCESSANTLY CONSPIRED to PROHIBIT pest control products used in the Urban Landscape.
Sadly, these polls were commissioned by MISAPPROPRIATING AND SQUANDERING PUBLIC MONEY THAT WAS NOT DONATED FOR THIS PURPOSE.
Each poll cost OVER FIFTEEN–THOUSAND–DOLLARS.
Observers estimate that ANTI–PESTICIDE ENVIRO–POLLS cost OVER 750,000 DOLLARS.
Unfortunately, Anti–Pesticide Organizations are WASTING MONEY AND RESOURCES since pest control products are HEALTH–CANADA–APPROVED, FEDERALLY–LEGAL, SCIENTIFICALLY–SAFE, and PRACTICALLY–NON–TOXIC.
A MORE LEGITIMATE POLL, conducted by Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association ( CCSPA ) in 2011, indicated that the VAST MAJORITY OF RESIDENTS ARE OPPOSED TO THE PROHIBITION of conventional pest control products.
According to the MORE LEGITIMATE POLL conducted by Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association ( CCSPA ) in British Columbia …
● The VAST MAJORITY of residents are OPPOSED to the PROHIBITION of conventional pest control products
● The VAST MAJORITY of residents FAVOUR the continued use of pest control products around their homes and in public green spaces
● The VAST MAJORITY of residents said « yes » to conventional pest control products
● Residents are CONFIDENT they can SAFELY USE pest control products
● Residents see the BENEFITS of pest control products
● There is a MISPERCEPTION that most residents want the PROHIBITION of pest control products in the Urban Landscape
● 84 PER CENT of residents WANT INSECT CONTROL on their lawns if products are applied by a Professional Lawn Care company
● 70 PER CENT of residents WANT WEED CONTROL on their lawns if products are applied by a Professional Lawn Care company
● Only an INFINITELY SMALL number of residents say « no » to the use of pest control products
● 25 PER CENT of residents WANT PEST CONTROL PRODUCTS NO MATTER WHAT
● Residents want to continue to have the option to use pest control products
● Residents SUPPORT THE CONTINUED USE OF PEST CONTROL PRODUCTS in the Urban Landscape
THE ENVIRONMENTAL FACTOR ?!?!
MYTH ― PROHIBITION was beneficial to companies like The Environmental Factor company which allegedly had a 400 per cent increase in sales ― WRONG !
Anti–Pesticide Activists often use the story of a company called The Environmental Factor.
ALLEGEDLY, this company enjoyed a 400–per–cent increase in sales and manufacturing during the first six months of PROHIBITION in Ontario.
Anti–Pesticide Activists are WRONG !
The story of Environmental Factor is NOT a good example of BUSINESS GROWTH under the PROHIBITION of pest control products.
Environmental Factor is a supplier of Green Alternatives to conventional pest control products, such as the herbicide Corn Gluten Meal.
It also operates a handful of lawn care company franchises.
This company did NOT have a SUSTAINED 400 per cent increase in sales.
Its so–called growth was ARTIFICIAL because of an infusion of GOVERNMENT GRANTS.
Unfortunately, Environmental Factor’s BUSINESS GROWTH SEVERELY DETERIORATED because demand PLUMMETED for Corn Gluten Meal ― this product does NOT control ANY weeds under ANY circumstances.
Furthermore, several Environmental Factor lawn care franchises fell into BANKRUPTCY or BUSINESS FAILURE.
Ontario Anti–Pesticide PROHIBITION was NOT positive for ANYONE, except when they received FREE MONEY from the government.
HALIFAX ?!?!
MYTH ― PROHIBITION in Halifax Regional Municipality, in Nova Scotia, allegedly led to a 50 per cent increase in the number of Professional Lawn Care companies ― WRONG !
In 2000, Halifax IMPOSED, over a three–year period, the PROHIBITION of conventional pest control products used in the Urban Landscape.
This Anti–Pesticide PROHIBITION led to HARDSHIP AND LOSSES for the Professional Lawn Care businesses because there were NO valid economical alternatives to replace the prohibited products.
Customers DISINTEGRATED BY OVER 50 PER CENT, and REVENUES PLUMMETED BY 40 PER CENT.
The number of businesses DID NOT GROW WHATSOEVER !
ORGANIZATIONS ?!?!
MYTH ― PROHIBITION is supported by Anti–Pesticide Activists that are somehow more knowledgeable than Health Canada ― WRONG !
Are Anti–Pesticide Activists is more knowledgeable than Health Canada ?!?!?
NO !
Anti–Pesticide Activists have conveniently considered the hundreds of qualified scientists of Health Canada’s respected Pest Management Regulatory Agency to be incompetent and/or incapable of arriving at correct scientific findings concerning conventional pest control products.
In order to allow SOUND SCIENCE to be effectively practiced, it would be preferable leave the interpretation of scientific research about pest control products to those people who ARE competent to do it ― Health Canada, and NOT Anti–Pesticide Activists.
NO pest control product can be sold or used until Health Canada’s scientists have evaluated ALL the existing evidence to determine whether the product meets stringent health and safety requirements.
Conventional pest control products are SCIENTIFICALLY SAFE since they have been scrutinized and approved by the HUNDREDS of expert scientists at Health Canada !
Overall, when they are used properly, there are NO harmful irreversible effects to health and the environment !
Instead of increasing the public’s awareness of the largest known preventable causes of cancer, such as smoking and diet, Anti–Pesticide Activists prefer SCAMMING, DECEIVING, and ALARMING the public into believing there is some IMAGINARY DANGER with conventional pest control products.
Rather than providing information for improving the lifestyle choices of the public that could, without a doubt, actually save lives, Anti–Pesticide Activists prefer CONCOCTING MYTHS, DECEPTIONS, FEAR–MONGERING, FRAUDULENT LIES, MISCONCEPTIONS, COERCION, THREATS, TERROR, and PARANOID CONSPIRACIES about conventional pest control products.
PROHIBITION NOT NECESSARY
Any PROHIBITION of pest control products is NOT JUSTIFIED because STRICT REGULATIONS BASED ON SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ALREADY PROTECT OUR HEALTH and OUR ENVIRONMENT.
ALL PROHIBITIONS are 100 per cent Politically–Based and 0 per cent Science–Based.
The MAJOR SOURCE of exposure to pest control products is from FOOD SUPPLY, and NOT the Urban Landscape.
Incredibly, some jurisdictions ARBITRARILY PROHIBIT pest control products that are, in fact, …
● Health–Canada–Approved
● Federally–Legal
● Safe For Children *
● Scientifically–Safe
● Practically–Non–Toxic
● Cause No Harm
● Do Not Cause Cancer
● Do Not Run–Off Into Lakes and Streams
● Enhance the Urban Landscape
● Good for the Environment
* Except when stored improperly in the home.
In jurisdictions like Ontario, PROHIBITION led to the DEATH of an elderly man who was forced to hand–pull TOXIC NOXIOUS WEEDS.
PROHIBITION INFLICTED IMMENSE LOSSES to the Professional Lawn Care Industry, in the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.
Because of PROHIBITION, green spaces are OVER–RUN WITH WEEDS, INFESTED WITH INSECTS, and DISMALLY DESTROYED ― they look like GARBAGE DUMPS.
Overall, when pest control products are used properly, there are NO harmful irreversible effects to health and the environment !

NORAHG is a NATIONAL NON–PROFIT NON–PARTISAN organization dedicated to representing the work of RESPECTED and HIGHLY–RATED EXPERTS who promote PESTICIDE–REALISM and PESTICIDE–TRUTHS.
We are living in the DARK AGE OF ANTI–PESTICIDE TERRORISM where sound science is trumped by JUNK SCIENCE and UNVERIFIABLE SECRET EVIDENCE through FABRICATION, INNUENDO, and INTERNET RUMOUR ― scientific research PROVES that pest control products CAUSE NO HARM and can be USED SAFELY.
HUJE are enviro–lunatics, anti–pesticide activists, and lawn–haters, who particularly DESPISE the golf industry. There is NO RECOURSE but LITIGATION against these HUJE, as well as the CANCELLATION of GOVERNMENT GRANTS and REVOCATION of the TAX–EXEMPT STATUS of their organizations.
