Collingwood Golf Courses Polluting Watershed | Blue Mountain Watershed Trust Fund | Lake Simcoe Clean-up Fund – Currently Funded Projects – Water – Environment Canada

The mission of the Blue Mountain Watershed Trust Foundation (the “Trust”) is “to preserve and enhance the Blue Mountain Watershed ecosystem”. Consistent with this mission, we have been investigating pesticide applications on Collingwood area golf courses since January 7, 2008. Prior to undertaking our monitoring program, we reviewed the relevant pesticide legislation and material safety data sheets and the prescribed annual reports on pest control product usage by area golf courses. A literature search on pesticide usage in other jurisdictions was also undertaken.

Cleaning Up Lake Simcoe and South-eastern Georgian Bay

The Lake Simcoe South-eastern Georgian Bay Clean-Up Fund will help restore ecological health of Lake Simcoe and South-eastern Georgian Bay and improve water quality for the residents and wildlife of the region.

The five-year $29 million fund is part of the Government of Canada’s Comprehensive Approach to Clean Water and will be managed by Environment Canada. It will support community-based projects that are focused on priorities such as reducing phosphorous inputs from urban and rural sources, restoring fish and aquatic wildlife habitat, and addressing nearshore toxic and nuisance algae growth.
