Regina Pesticide Ban – NO Pesticide Ban In Regina – Canadian Cancer Society – Sanela Begic – Pay-Offs To Hired-Guns – Victories So Far – 2012 06 04

City of Regina

Regina is the capital city of the Canadian Province of Saskatchewan with a population of less than 200,000.

It is the second-largest city in the province ( after Saskatoon ), as well as a cultural and commercial centre for Southern Saskatchewan.

Regina has an abundance of parks and recreational spaces  ―  all of its trees  ―  some 300,000  ―  as well as shrubs and other plants, were hand-planted.

NO Pesticide Ban In Regina

The City of Regina has DROPPED the proposal for Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION.

Earlier in 2012, the city’s Environment Advisory Committee has considered calling for PROHIBITION.

The committee says it heard from business owners worried about how the ban might affect the local Professional Lawn Care Industry.

Others argued that Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION would be TOO DIFFICULT TO ENFORCE, or would be AN INFRINGEMENT ON PEOPLE’S PERSONAL CHOICE.

According to Regina’s Environment Advisory Committee  ―

In light of the information, the presentations, and strong public and stakeholder feeling, the committee does not feel it appropriate to recommend that the city adopt a by-law restricting the cosmetic or non-essential use of pesticides.

Instead of a city-wide PROHIBITION, the committee wants the City of Regina to adopt a policy of AVOIDING the use of pest control products on it owns lands.

It says the city should « encourage » residents not to use pest control products on their own lawns.

Nonetheless, PROHIBITION is NOT SUPPORTED by health and policy experts, and is NOT SUPPORTED by local residents.

Moreover, in jurisdictions outside of Regina, PROHIBITION DESTROYED public and residential green spaces by turning them into GARBAGE DUMPS.

Pesticide Ban STOPPED

Anti-Pesticide Activists FALSELY ALLEGE that pest control products are somehow harmful to the environment and have been linked to cancer.

For twelve years, Canadian Cancer Society has been CONSPIRING to PROHIBIT pest control products in the Urban Landscape.

This CONSPIRACY has cost Canadian Cancer Society up to 5,000,000 DOLLARS.

This is despite the fact that pest control products are HEALTH-CANADA-APPROVED, FEDERALLY-LEGAL, SCIENTIFICALLY-SAFE, PRACTICALLY-NON-TOXIC, and CAUSE NO HARM.

HIRED-GUN LOBBYIST Sanela Begic expressed MOCK-INDIGNATION  ―

I’m not sure what’s taking so long in this province to move on this issue.  [ ?!?! ]

Canadian Cancer Society says although there is NO DIRECT PROOF PESTICIDES CAUSE CANCER, the evidence linking the two is growing.

It is COMMON KNOWLEDGE that there are NO pest control products that are known or probable carcinogens.

Nevertheless, Begic resorts to BASELESS FEAR-MONGERING in a clear attempt to NEEDLESSLY ALARM the public  ―

I’m afraid to see our cancer stats in 20 or 30 years when people start getting diagnosed with these illnesses.  That’s when we’ll pay the price.  [ ?!?! ]

Begic is a LUNATIC-LIAR !

WHO NEEDS THIS #@!!% NONSENSE ?!?!

In fact, it is INDISPUTABLE that pest control products are SCIENTIFICALLY SAFE, and NO HARM WILL OCCUR when they are used according to label directions.

Even Begic’s organization, Canadian Cancer Society, states on several of its web-sites that scientific research does NOT provide a conclusive link between pest control products and cancer.

http://wp.me/P1jq40-4qC

Nevertheless, HIRED-GUN LOBBYIST Sanela Begic CONSPIRES to IMPOSE a PROHIBITION against the use of pest control products under the PRETEXT of MOCK-CONCERNS regarding cancer.

Again  …  Begic is a LUNATIC-LIAR !

There is NOT ONE KNOWN CANCER DEATH from the proper use of pest control products used in the Urban Landscape.

In fact, according to American Cancer Society, cancer rates and deaths are actually DROPPING.

Moreover, Canadian Cancer Society has NOT SPENT A SINGLE PENNY to research pest control products.

Begic and her buddies NEVER conducted ANY serious scientific study  …  evidently because they are NOT COMPETENT OR MOTIVATED TO DO SO.

Neither Begic, nor anyone else at Canadian Cancer Society, COULD EVEN BE BOTHERED TO HAVE USED THE EXTENSIVE TOXICOLOGY DATABASE THAT IS AVAILABLE FROM HEALTH CANADA.

They are not only SCIENTIFICALLY IGNORANT, but also LAZY AND OBTUSE.

Nigel Bowles, Manager of the Saskatchewan Nursery Landscape Association, says there is NO LINK between cancer and pest control products, and all products have been evaluated as « safe for use » by Health Canada.

According to Bowles  …  « We have 350 scientists at the Pest Management Regulatory Agency whose sole job is to ENSURE HUMAN AND ENVIRONMENT SAFETY.  That’s their job.  »

Begic is also DESPICABLE in her use of CHILDREN as WEAPONS OF COERCION AND ULTIMATE TERROR in order to promote Anti-Pesticide PROHIBITION  ―

Especially childhood cancers and also pet cancers.  Kids crawl on our lawns. They put their fingers in their mouths. We need to do something to protect the kids in this province.    [ ?!?! ]

Again  …  Begic is WRONG !

The safety assessments of pest control products by Pest Management Regulatory Agency of Heath Canada ( PMRA ) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA ) DO take children into consideration.

These assessments DO consider children’s physiology, behaviours, and habits while playing on treated grass.

Moreover, there are NO valid reports of pest control product problems with children.

Canadian Cancer Society

Health Care Observers have expressed outrage over the MISAPPROPRIATION of donation money by Canadian Cancer Society.

In total, Canadian Cancer Society has spent between 2,500,000 to 5,000,000 DOLLARS on Anti-Pesticide CONSPIRACIES.

Canadian Cancer Society claims it fundraises for only one reason  ―  to raise critical funds for its mission of eradicating cancer and improving the quality of life for those living with it.

Health Care Observers are concerned that the society is not living up to its mission, and the campaign money could have otherwise been used to save lives, prevent cancer, and help those who are living with the disease.

According to Dr. Len Ritter, the nation’s leading expert in the field of toxicology and pesticide safety, pesticides do not cause cancer, and there is no increase in cancer deaths in Canada when you consider that the population is aging and increasing.

Pay-Offs To Hired-Guns

PROHIBITION makes HIRED-GUNS like Sanela Begic become RICH !

Canadian Cancer Society actually has PAY-OFF PROGRAMS to REWARD those who CONSPIRE to PROHIBIT pest control products.

Anti-Pesticide HIRED-GUNS like Begic receive PAY-OFFS for CONSPIRING to PROHIBIT pest control products.

They receive PAY-OFFS in the form of an INCENTIVE OF 2,000 DOLLARS by Canadian Cancer Society for the ORGANIZATION OF EVERY ANTI-PESTICIDE FORUM.

Anti-Pesticide HIRED-GUNS receive PAY-OFFS in the form of a BONUS OF 1,000 DOLLARS by Canadian Cancer Society FOR EVERY PRESENTATION MADE TO EACH MUNICIPAL TOWN COUNCIL.

Anti-Pesticide HIRED-GUNS like Begic are also paid to make presentations to Government Officials, and are given a BOUNTY OF 5,000 DOLLARS by Canadian Cancer Society upon SUCCESSFUL PROHIBITION LEGISLATION within a community.

And overall, Anti-Pesticide HIRED-GUNS like Begic are PAID a BASE SALARY of OVER 40,000 DOLLARS PER YEAR, plus expenses, by Canadian Cancer Society, to COERCE, INTIMIDATE, and ALARM GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.

Since 2005, OVER 30 HIRED-GUNS have been paid by Canadian Cancer Society to CONSPIRE TO PROHIBIT pest control products used in the Urban Landscape.

Observers estimate that these PAY-OFFS for Anti-Pesticide HIRED-GUNS have cost OVER 1,500,000 DOLLARS.

These Anti-Pesticide HIRED-GUNS will say ANYTHING in order to get their AWARDS and PAY-OFFS.

Draft Proposed Recommendations Regarding Pesticide Use In Regina Recommendations

(1)   The City of Regina adopt a policy of AVOIDING cosmetic or non-essential pesticide use in the management of lands owned or administered by the City.

(2)   The City encourage Wascana Centre Authority to also AVOID cosmetic or non-essential pesticide use in the management of lands under the jurisdiction of Wascana Centre Authority.

(3) The City encourage residents to MINIMISE cosmetic or non-essential pesticide use on their own lands.

(4)   The City review the effectiveness of its pesticide policies after two years and continue or modify them as appropriate at that time.

Background and Discussion :

Concerns around pesticide use in urban areas centre around issues of possible risk to human health [ ?!?! ], and possible environmental contamination of soil, water and air [ ?!?! ], and to possible damage to biota beyond the pesticide-targeted species.  [ ?!?! ]

An increasing number of jurisdictions within Canada have curtailed the use of various pesticides for non-essential [ ?!?! ] purposes in recent years.

These actions have sometimes taken place at the provincial level ( as in Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces ) or at the municipal level.

At present the City of Regina manages three parks on a PESTICIDE-FREE basis, but has no by-law in place with regard to pesticide use.

The City of Regina Environmental Advisory Committee considered whether the City should adopt a by-law eliminating the cosmetic or non-essential use of pesticides in the City.

The draft recommendation for a by-law to that end attracted numerous spirited presentations and submissions.

Those [ Anti-Pesticide Lunatics ] IN FAVOUR of the draft recommendation were [ mock ] concerned about possible health impacts of pesticide use in urban areas [ ?!?! ], and with possible negative impacts to the environment of pesticide use [ ?!?! ].

They maintained that the synergistic effects of multiple different pesticides are generally not tested for [ ?!?! ], that the evidence of the negative consequences of non-essential pesticide use is increasing [ ?!?! ], that children were at higher risk [ ?!?! ], and that more and more jurisdictions were moving to restrict non-essential pesticide use.

Those AGAINST the draft recommendation stated that there is a functioning national framework in place for the approval of pesticides for use in Canada ( Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency ) and that pesticides approved through that framework are SAFE FOR USE ( when used as directed ).

Those [ Anti-Pesticide Lunatics ] AGAINST the draft recommendation were also concerned with possible NEGATIVE IMPACTS on local landscape care businesses.

Other concerns were that management of some areas without non-essential pesticides could be TOO COSTLY or IMPRACTICAL; that the by-law could be too difficult to enforce; that it would be an INFRINGEMENT ON PERSONAL CHOICE; and that the issue is better regulated at a federal or provincial level, i.e. not via a by-law.

In light of the information, the presentations, and STRONG PUBLIC AND STAKEHOLDER FEELING [ and the threat of litigation ], the Committee DOES NOT FEEL IT APPROPRIATE TO RECOMMEND THAT THE CITY ADOPT A BY-LAW RESTRICTING THE cosmetic or non-essential USE OF PESTICIDES.

Businesses and citizens SHOULD BE FREE TO CONTINUE TO USE FEDERALLY-APPROVED PESTICIDES.

However, the Committee does believe that REDUCTION of pesticide use within the City, so far as practicable, is an important objective, and that the City itself should model best possible practice, and that it can do more than it now does to this end.

Therefore, the Committee recommends that in its own management of City properties, the City should adopt a policy of AVOIDING cosmetic or non-essential pesticide use.

As working guidance on what is or is not cosmetic pesticide use, the City could follow a framework such as the Government of Ontario’s Pesticide Classification Guidelines, or some other appropriate model.

Adopting the Committee’s recommendations would not require a by-law, and would not infringe on private landholders’ or businesses’ use of pesticides.

The Committee recommends that after a TWO-YEAR PERIOD the City examine the success of the policy, and continue it or modify it as appropriate at that time.

Background Information from an Independent Perspective

The Government Officials in Regina are no longer as easily coerced into agreeing with ANTI-PESTICIDE CONSPIRACIES, since they have been warned in advance !

Regina Government Officials have seen what has been happening in Eastern Canada !

Regina Government Officials have seen Anti-Pesticide TERRORISM spread to their city and province !

Regina Government Officials are no longer willing to agree with ANTI-PESTICIDE CONSPIRACIES since conventional pest control products are known to be HEALTH-CANADA-APPROVED, FEDERALLY-LEGAL, SCIENTIFICALLY-SAFE, and PRACICALLY-NON-TOXIC.

Regina Government Officials also realize that NOT A SINGLE Anti-Pesticide Activists has ANY recognized expertise, training or background in matters concerning pest control products.

Many activists have made themselves VULNERABLE TO OFFICIAL SCRUTINY AND LEGAL ACTION.

Anti-Pesticide Activists CONCOCT IMAGINARY DANGER, MYTHS, DECEPTIONS, FEAR-MONGERING, FRAUDULENT LIES, MISCONCEPTIONS, COERCION, THREATS, TERROR, and PARANOID CONSPIRACIES to SCAM Government Officials into agreeing with ANTI-PESTICIDE CONSPIRACIES.

Regina Government Officials have an ONUS OF RESPONSIBILITY to verify the JUNK SCIENCE INFORMATION that has been CONCOCTED by Anti-Pesticide Activists.

In several jurisdictions, local government has FAILED to base its decisions on SOUND SCIENCE.

Consequently, in provinces like Ontario, municipalities have been STRIPPED of their powers to PROHIBIT pest control products.

Regina Government Officials now understand that ANTI-PESTICIDE CONSPIRACIES will INFLICT CATASTROPHIC CARNAGE on local Professional Lawn Care businesses.

Moreover, Regina Government Officials realize that they are clearly NOT knowledgeable enough to legislate in support of ANTI-PESTICIDE CONSPIRACIES.
