Kingsville Golf And Country Club Ltd. Fined 50,000 For Failing To Comply With A Permit To Take WaterWINDSOR – On July 25, 2011, Kingsville Golf and Country Club Limited pleaded guilty to two violations under the Ontario Water Resources Act for failing to comply with a Permit to Take Water.
The Court heard that the company is located in Kingsville, in the County of Essex. In July 2009, a Provincial Officer conducted a site visit of the golf course and noted a number of exceedances of water taking for the 2009 irrigation season. The investigation revealed that the company failed to comply with two conditions of its permit, including excessive water taking from Wigle Creek and failing to take all reasonable measures to ensure that any person authorized to take water complies with the conditions of the permit.
The company was charged following an investigation by the ministry’s Investigations and Enforcement Branch.
The company was fined a total of $50,000 plus a victim fine surcharge and was given 12 months to pay the fines.
